The laugh of it is that Prototype 2 hit the top of the US charts in April. This is greed on the part of Activision, nothing more, nothing less.

It's a sad day for them, but doubtless many of them will move on to greener pastures in the industry, and some of them may even choose to found their own indie studios and remain independent of the majors.
It's always sad to see a decent studio shut down, I hope the talented former employees land on their feet elsewhere.

Activision: If it ain't Call of Duty, it ain't worth it.

Agreed...
Another one bites the dust goddamn this is obviously a budget problem how much did Prototype 2 cost to make

Doesn't matter. The question is, did they make any money?

There's no point in blaming Activision if they were not making money.
so do we miss anything?

csi games were already taken over by telltale games. (and they didn't get any better)
Prototype 2 was by all accounts a great game and built on the spirit of the original. It even had an interesting twist by having Mercer as the bad guy. This is a genuinely depressing sign of the state of the industry.

If the 38 Studios aftermath is any indication, and given the performance of Prototype 2, I'm optimistic that they'll turn out okay.

Ain't that the truth.
Sad to see the company go although i did not buy either prototyoe (not my kind of games) i did think it did look interesting.

Hope the guys find new employment or can create a new company.
Radical Entertainment was a mediocre developer at best. I get the feeling people would feel a lot less compassion if they couldn't blame Activision along the way.

They had a few decent games, but the bulk of their work was nothing really interesting.

I was waiting for someone to speak up, lol. To be honest i thought they made decent "good" games rather than "great" games.

Simpsons road rage was a fun game, hit and run i didn't like as much. Prototype was decent, but i preffered the game infamous.
Rather unfortunate and a shame.
The Simpsons: H&R and Scarface were both good games i enjoyed immensely.

however, i never saw anything in the Prototype games. i just cannot get into that whole mutant superhero (or -villain) thing. i find it extremely silly.

i hate seeing Radical close, though. but i guess that's what you get for "teaming up" with Activision. industry behemoths like Activision and EA have a history of closing down developer studios for no good reason.

No profit yet big budgets is a pretty good reason.

(of course, I haven't seen any confirmation whether they were profitable or not yet)

My thoughts exactly and I was going to post the same thing. The video game business is an especially cruel one, and sometimes there's just not enough room for anyone. Personally, I couldn't care less if Radical was shut down. They haven't produced anything that would make me feel sorry for them, as sad or selfish as it sounds.
