orcishgamer: Maybe when they came up with an almost decent property they could have avoided tossing it in the shitter for a quick cash grab while making the sequel. But they didn't and now they are no more.

RIP The Force Unleashed.

Vengeance is satisfied.

Elmofongo: You do know people lost their jobs :(
You do know those jobs were already lost during the acquisition, right? It just took them a bit to hand out pink slips.

People lose jobs a lot, it's sort of a given during mergers and buyouts. Vengeance doesn't hand out pink slips, asshole companies that expect loyalty without returning any do.
Anyone here ever actually been to Disney Land?

That giant mouse that runs around there, he isn't really a mouse. Turns out he's just some asshole in a costume.

An asshole that will sometimes grope your wife/girlfriend as she poses with him for a picture:)

Dunno, but there's some pretty funny pictures on the net of people's women getting groped;)

EverettLamb: Does that mean we won't see the Lucas Arts games here? Say it ain't so. :(
avatar
ne_zavarj: You will see more of them on Steam .
That pisses me off.
Good riddance, none of their "classic era" games are as good as you remember anyway.
Not REMOTELY surprised at this news. Any developer that sells their gaming company should expect it to be shut down by the company that bought it. It happens in almost every case and, IMO, they're very naive if they expect anything else.

Personally, not a huge loss for the modern gaming world. I haven't played a LucasArts game since Escape From Monkey Island and I think that was in 2000?

Would love to see the back catalogue on GOG though. I'd buy all of it.

Not even the almighty Grim Fandango?

Well, we all have opinions. Personally, I loved the X-Wing series and the Dark Forces series. Also, I was really looking forward to what SW: 1313 was going to go. Hopefully that still gets developed.

Have you played it recently, from an objective perspective?

I have. The story is still tight, the art is gorgeous, the music is exceptional, the cast is spot-on, the humour is just right, even the basic game design can still impress. And I'm saying this as dispassionately as possible, lest you challenge me on objectivity. So what exactly is the problem with it?

For that matter, what is the problem with any of their classics? The other day I was backing up some installations and images, and started up Jedi Knight, just to see if the settings were OK. Ended up playing from some random save point for two hours, before shaking myself away. And it's not even my favourite JK game. So what exactly is wrong with their classics?

LA was once an institution of PC games, and that's how I'll remember them. At least we need no longer hold our breath when they announce a new game. The chronic disappointment was painful :(

"Our community wish list shows we have quite a bunch of LucasArts’ titles to sign next and we will do our best to satisfy our gamers. Heck, we just signed SS2 after all, so impossible is nothing for GOG! If you guys want to support us, make sure to vote in our community wishlist so that we can give more weight to all our ongoing and upcoming business talks. It worked for SS2, so it can work for other titles. I know that some people may think that voting in the wishlist doesn’t accomplish anything. I’m here to tell you it does." - Guillaume Rambourg [Source]

I watched the entire thing on youtube and I thought was a good game, it was almost like a Pixar film with more edge.

But I still do not understand why its considered the perfect Computer Adventure game even though there are others that are good like Primordia.
