keeveek: Isaac Clarke meets Boba Fett - kinect dancing game
Isaac Clarke explores the ruins of Death Star - horror fps.
They didn't make anything good for years. Especially for gamers that are not really interested in Star Wars. We can only hope that they won't let all those good old licenses sleep forever. They don't need to do anything, just sign a few papers, let GOG do the work and get the easy cash.

It's sad for all those people that lost their job due to poor management.

"Our community wish list shows we have quite a bunch of LucasArts’ titles to sign next and we will do our best to satisfy our gamers. Heck, we just signed SS2 after all, so impossible is nothing for GOG! If you guys want to support us, make sure to vote in our community wishlist so that we can give more weight to all our ongoing and upcoming business talks. It worked for SS2, so it can work for other titles. I know that some people may think that voting in the wishlist doesn’t accomplish anything. I’m here to tell you it does." - Guillaume Rambourg [Source]

Oh well, who cares anyway (about LucasArts). So long, Lucasfilm Games, and thanks for all the adventuring....
No love for Indiana Jones And The Fate of Atlantis: The Action Game
I didn't even know it existed. I've added it to the wishlist.

Don't hold your breath on getting those Lucas game in GOG. In comparision to Disney Activision is the cool uncle when it comes to IP licenses, where as Disney is the grumpy old man, shooting people who dare to step on his lawn.

Maybe, but it was clear that licensing was never going to happen with LA in charge of those IPs anyway, so at worst the situation hasn't changed.

Personally, I just don't care about this. Lucas Arts had been dead as a developer for a long time, and hadn't done much as a publisher either. These days, they were just parasites living on past glories, of which we have far too many in the gaming industry imo.
Disney can hardly be worse, and we might even be pleasantly surprised and have them publish decent stuff. Stranger things have happened.

As for being sad about the people being fired, I'd guess any competent people who remotely cared about making good games left Lucas Arts a long time ago, so excuse me for not caring what happens to the rest of their employees.

apocolypse600: One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that the source code for Jedi Outcast and Academy went up as a tribute to LucasArts. Atleast some good came out of this I guess.

Very cool. Probably deserves its own topic. Kind of makes me sorry I gave away the Jedi Academy copy I bought on Steam instead of using it, but I guess if I ever become really interested in that I'll just buy it.

Still, I just checked and I do have Jedi Outcast on Steam. I remember playing the beginning of it but it was too hard, like games from the time when I actually played games. :)
Honestly? I have no real love for Disney - they're on a par with EA and Activision in terms of ethics as far as I'm concerned - but given LucasArts' track record since 2006, it would have only run itself into the ground anyway.

The last great SW game was Empire at War, which was released seven years ago. Since then we've had The Force Unleashed 1 & 2, The Old Republic, that Clone Wars game, some cheesy Wii lightsaber game and Kinect Star Wars. Yes, the one with the rapping Han Solo.

With the exception of Force Unleashed 1, all of these games were horrendously bad, and even the PC version of FU1 was a clusterfuck defying all and any description. Other than that we've had...the Monkey Island 1 & 2 remakes. That's it. That's all this once-great studio has had to show for itself.

And all of the crap titles were produced externally anyway. So there's nothing new going on. The least we can hope for from Disney is slightly better quality control, because LucasArts sucked at it.

What did Disney do that makes them so bad and evil, I never understood the Disney hate?

EDIT: also SWTOR was OK imo.

Now GOG has to get all the old LucasArts games so they don't all disappear.

Well, Disney essentially got rid of one of the most beloved (well, formerly beloved, anyway) companies in the gaming industry.

Well they seem to kind of blunder around, hit it lucky with some thing random then absolutely milk it to death till everyone is sick of it while letting more "niche" things with decent audiences die because they don't get the "holy crap!" numbers that buy the studio execs cocaine. So they are no worse than any other major corporation that has lost all enthusiasm and is just in the business of making money and trying to screw everyone (hello EA and Activision). they just happen to be one of the biggest. They also brought so much of it on themselves by buying up most of fandom given that they now own Star Wars, Marvel and a load of other stuff that so many people feel passionate about.
