Ixamyakxim: I freaked out when I saw this on the front page, as I've been dying for a pirate RPG (I've actually been hoping for GoG to put up a few of the later Sea Dogs games). If you've played Sea Dogs, could you say if this is like those games?

Or is this closer to a Diablo / Drox Operative / Soldak at Sea game? I'm not sure if that's exactly what I'm looking for right now.
Its more like Pirates but more focus on trading and quests.
Havent played sea dogs, Drox Operative / Soldak at Sea so i cant really say.
Its not like diablo though.
If you have a steam account i can give you one copy there if you want.

Basicly the premise of the game goes like this.
You start off with the smallest ship a sloop
you then gain expereince, levels and gold as you sink pirate ships, doing quests and capture objectives(towns, etc).
You can then buy more powefull ships for gold and pick talents for each level (better aim, better sail, etc)

Edit:
Oh i havent tried the multiplayer yet so dont ask me about that :p

Not sure about this game. It might have too much focus on multiplayer from what I can gather.
Still no Crypt of the Necrodancer? *le sigh*

Hm. This Windward thing doesn't look all that appealing, especially if it's meant as an online 'experience'. Sounds like I'm better off sticking to Pirates! Gold and Sea Dogs.

Dzsono: Wishlisted, but a popular tag on Steam is "MMORPG". A bit worrisome...

micktiegs_8: Yeah, reading the reviews suggests that it's primarily a multiplayer experience. You can play single player buts it's dull, it seems.
That's a shame. I might pass on this one :(

Is the SP mode really that bad in Windward?
Lovely release!

When a game about pirate gets released, I wonder if someday we'll see a game about barbary (muslim) pirates, since they were actively present in several areas of the mediterranean, the americas and even Iceland.
If done properly, there's story to be told, since Oruç Barbarossa (or Oruç Reis/Arrudye) was a famous barbary corsair.

We need that. ;-)

No, I have enjoyed it for the short time I've played. It can be repetitive, but it is still enjoyable. I have not played any coop or MP
It looks a bit like Windforge, except actually interesting and engaging. While Windforge isn't exactly a high bar, this also more importantly, looks competently made.
Definitely reminds me of PSX's Overboard! & with it's colorful graphics i could mistake it for Anno 1404 too! And nice trailer too, I got all the information on how the game plays & looks and what to expect (in conjuction with the description), something you can't do with those other CG trailers.. I'll pass for now (can't do otherwise anyway).
Thought about buying it as i first saw it on Steam.
But the reviews....and the mp part...I'll wait a little longer.

Riotact: Overboard?
Yes! That is the title of the old Psygnosis arcade game with the pirate ship.

Psygnosis!

They've made a ton of great games! Wouldn't it be nice if GOG could get or [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/gpolice]G-Police?

This doesn't look so bad, but the fact that it was made with multiplayer in mind makes me wanna wait for a bigger sale.
