Looks interesting. Never played this series, so can anyone describe the main good points of this game? Is it really that non-linear story? Or just ME3 style same endings with different colors?
Glad to see it here for fans. :) Hope it sells well.

And how do we buy Spy Fox, Freddi Fish and Putt-Putt if it's not available on gog?

Run time is generally short (only a few hours) but with quite a few endings (IIRC, 3 has close to 20 or so endings) that can change quite a bit (more than ME3 different colors, but in some cases, it can be small changes, too, like you went down a certain endings path and opted not to kill somebody at the end, resulting in a different outcome, rather than a drastically different change like opting not to go down that ending path at all which you can also do). Due to the kind-of permadeath and big scenario changes, the main game itself is never that long.

Big draw is in replaying, getting better, and unlocking new weapons, endings, costumes, and seeing alternate scenarios (what if I did thing A instead of B here, or just opted not to go anywhere near there?).

EDIT: The whole series follows a similar ideology of having more quite a bit different outcomes and paths with a shorter run-time focused on replaying. 4 also has some neat stuff where the game will acknowledge or reference some things you did on different runs to kind of make it like your previous characters were separate to the one you're playing now.

JogsterXL: Instabought!
Ditto.
Which one is better? Way of the samurai 3 or 4?
Is this the flood of new games which Judas promised a couple of years ago? Because I constantly see new high profile releases, and am afraid of what will be next...
Darn... uuuh... not a fan of the artistic direction. :P

That's meant to encourage people to vote for them, I don't think I had enough room to put "vote" in there, but I'll see.
Cool

I like the Way of the Samurai games. They're basically as wacky as you want to make them, because their storyline is typically pretty serious, and it's only some side activities and costumes that are weird, so you can just ignore those if you want to.

It's also one of the series where your choices (or lack thereof, you're can completely ignore the main story if you wish) really matter, as there are tons of different endings, and while some are just small variations, the main ones are completely different (typically based on which faction you side with).
I have to wonder, if the PC releases are going backwards in number, since we got the third Way of the Samurai after the fourth, could we possibly see the second, or even the first?

I can dream :)

I think I still have the second on my shelf from the PS2...haven't touched it in over ten years O_o

A PC release would refresh my interest!

Cool. I never did get around to playing the post-PS2 Way of the Samurai games (though I've owned 4 on here forevveeerr.)

Hopefully, there's more Ghostlight stuff on the way.
A question for the veterans:

Newcomers to the series will be better served starting with Way of the Samurai 3 or with 4?

I am reading 3 is more serious (which I prefer), but also that the main story in 4 may be played seriously as well, with the crazy stuff as an open option.

I liked Sleeping Dogs (doing some crazy stuff now and then) but never finished Saints Row 2, if that serves as a reference.
Funny, I've never heard of this series before, it looks interesting. So, is it like GTA in feudal-era Japan?
