Lock down the mouse like El Presidente.

Tropico 3 Gold Edition, the third part of the excellent management/political simulation series, is available with the Absolute Power expansion for only $9.99 on GOG.com. That's 33% off the ful price of $14.99 price until on the 14th of June.

Ahhh, how good it is to be the “El Presidente”. What would become of the idyllic little caribbean island if it wasn’t for the great and just leader! Plan plan the layout of their urban areas, secure jobs, build churches and schools, provide electricity, food, and healthcare, and--finally--export precious goods at the best price (with only the smallest cut for yourself). As El Presidente, your people love you: they cheer when you speak and they may even even set up a golden statue of you. And why wouldn't they? You are the benevolent El Presidente! You want only what is best for your peopel! Sure, every once in a while you must have someone killed and you tolerate no dissent of any kinds but that’s a price worth paying for someone like El Presidente. If only those damn commies and capitalists would leave you alone. Just wait until you get your hands on a nice big red atomic button. Then they'll see who's in charge!

Tropico 3 is a game that puts you into the shoes of a dictator ruling over an island banana republic. It is not only a construction and management simulation, but a political simulation as well, in which you need to create a booming economy, keep your people happy, trade with the world, maintain balance between various factions (communists, capitalists, religious, loyalists), and do other dictatorish stuff. If you’re a fan of city-building games, this should be an instabuy: it looks amazingly good, offers logical and very complex game mechanics, and is filled with tons of politically incorrect humor.

You never know when you’ll need to take control over a small country--prepare now with Tropico 3 Gold Edition for only $9.99 until 14 June 2012 at 10:59 GMT.

TheJoe: It really should be noted on the gamecard that this release DOES feature all the extras from the Steam Special Edition; the two extra islands and costumes.

So there's really no point in getting this from Steam anymore! It's all here.
So it's another example of sloppy GOG work.
A gamecard should contain all the information and 'excite' people enough that they want to buy it. So they should mention that it includes the expansion, what the expansion contains and that it contains two additional islands and avatar outfits.
I know GOG is a relatively small company, but have some pride in your company! (TM)

I don't think it's sloppy work. The Steam special features aren't really that special and are very easy to miss.

I have every reason to believe they'll fix it soon enough.

And of course, the info's already on GOGWiki ;)

Heheh nice job :)

Just purchased.... have flu - this will cheer me right up ;)
Tropico 3 is bought for me... WOOT!
Four addons for El Presidente will help me rule with dignity... and cigars.
Quite impressed with the sale price and updated game card.
Three day weekend coming up... cough. ;)
Tropico 1 was an awesome game, pretty comparable to SimCity 2000 in my opinion.

Tropico 3 looks pretty sharp. Great addition.
Dumb question, guys:
What do i need the serial [it's in the game download details in My Account] for?

Cause i was sure, the original game asked for the serial on first launch. This one doesn't so either it was dropped, or moved, hence my confusion. ;)

If you had Tropico 3 from elsewhere before it won't ask you for the serial, since it's already in your registry.

I had the Steam version installed when I first launched the GOG version. I uninstalled the steam version and upon relaunching the GOG version it asked me for the serial.

The GOGWiki is wrong about the serial, I should point out. I'll change that info when I'm absolutely sure what it's for.

Possibly for the optional Kalypso account to upload islands and high scores?
Our version comes with pre-installed default serial key, which is why the game doesn't ask for one upon launch and you can play Tropico 3 offline without hassle.
On your Account page you can find another, unique serial key that is needed if you want to create a Kalypso account and use game's online features.
