Lock down the mouse like El Presidente.

Tropico 3 Gold Edition, the third part of the excellent management/political simulation series, is available with the Absolute Power expansion for only $9.99 on GOG.com. That's 33% off the ful price of $14.99 price until on the 14th of June.

Ahhh, how good it is to be the “El Presidente”. What would become of the idyllic little caribbean island if it wasn’t for the great and just leader! Plan plan the layout of their urban areas, secure jobs, build churches and schools, provide electricity, food, and healthcare, and--finally--export precious goods at the best price (with only the smallest cut for yourself). As El Presidente, your people love you: they cheer when you speak and they may even even set up a golden statue of you. And why wouldn't they? You are the benevolent El Presidente! You want only what is best for your peopel! Sure, every once in a while you must have someone killed and you tolerate no dissent of any kinds but that’s a price worth paying for someone like El Presidente. If only those damn commies and capitalists would leave you alone. Just wait until you get your hands on a nice big red atomic button. Then they'll see who's in charge!

Tropico 3 is a game that puts you into the shoes of a dictator ruling over an island banana republic. It is not only a construction and management simulation, but a political simulation as well, in which you need to create a booming economy, keep your people happy, trade with the world, maintain balance between various factions (communists, capitalists, religious, loyalists), and do other dictatorish stuff. If you’re a fan of city-building games, this should be an instabuy: it looks amazingly good, offers logical and very complex game mechanics, and is filled with tons of politically incorrect humor.

You never know when you’ll need to take control over a small country--prepare now with Tropico 3 Gold Edition for only $9.99 until 14 June 2012 at 10:59 GMT.

IMPRESSIVE!
Wow, it's hard to believe it's almost 3 years old.

Sadly, Tropico 3 is one of few games I've bought on Steam. It was a fun to play for a while but not something I need to collect, treasure & polish on my e-shelf. Maybe I'd go for it during a bigger sale to support newer GOG titles.

As for the game itself, it's cheerful and silly atmosphere mixed with good politician/economical jokes (radio commentators are awesome). Soundtrack is definitely a great mood-booster. Gameplay starts to be a bit repetitive after day or two because industrial trees aren't much developed (max 3 levels, I'd say). Good addition to GOG catalog, nonetheless.

Shame on you, GOG, it seems you just don't want my money for last two weeks.

Just a question:
Tried to install Tropico 3 Gold. During installation you can select 2 components "Tropico 3 Gold" and/ or "Foxit". Wtf is "Foxit"? I just know "Foxit PDF Reader"...

I'd be tempted to get it, but I doubt that it'll run on my 1.6ghz dual core laptop. It's a shame, but sometimes frequency counts.

Ah well, I probably should hold off on buying games for a while anyways.

lol *facepalm*
Is there much of a difference between this and the previous tropico game on GOG, other than better graphics?
Not really. This might be also slightly easier than the two first ones. Might have couple more structures and whatnot, but still pretty much the same game. And that is good in my eyes.
