This is something all Townsmen and casual strategy fans have been waiting for. The Seaside Empire DLC takes the game to the Mediterranean setting. Now we can build a harbor along the coast to increase the town’s trade and make a dive into the all-new story events.

Now you can buy Townsmen - A Kingdom Rebuilt on GOG.COM with a special 50% discount lasting until 27th February, 2 PM UTC. If you already have the base game, you will get a 10% discount on The Seaside Empire DLC also until 27th February 2020, 2 PM UTC.
Is the base game good?
There's only one review made by a verified owner - and that one complains about a pre-setting (no raids) not working.

I have it on my cell phone and I kinda like it, but I think the price they're asking is a bit of an exaggeration. Don't expect anything revolutionary from it.
Imagine you take 90% of the city building/ administration part from Stronghold, plus a very simplified combat (only one unit type) and no castle building. You have defensive maps or economic campaigns, but never an offensive military map. That's what you're getting here (unless there is reasonably more content in this version, of course).

If I had to choose I would rather pick pick this game for my phone. It's a decent way to spend the time when you're sitting outside the dentist, but if I wanted to scratch that itch while at my computer Stronghold does a much better job of it.

That said, I have no idea how much this DLC adds, but it seems like it's not meant to completely revamp the game.

I read that this game is a kind of ripoff on mobile devices in form of pay to win. If you don't spend real money for repairing your buildings they will fall apart real quickly and you loose. You even have to spend money for using the fast forward option.
I don't know how it behaves in the pc version but it kept me away from buying it.

I didn't find that hard to keep my buildings from falling apart. It's true that you have to do it a lot more often until you purchases some permanent upgrades, but it was perfectly doable.

You're right that they went for the P2W route but I have never spent a single cent on this game and I am already at a stage in which I have no problem crushing all competition and setting up a decent economic chain. The only challenges I face by now are self-imposed
Thanks Joppo and Silverhawk170485.

I think I can do without this then.

I do really like the building designs. Difficult to explain, but I do see similarities between how these buildings look and how the buildings in Novigrad from The Witcher 3 look, but they're not similar-looking if you get what I mean.

This game mixes mid-german age medieval architecture and early mediterran architecture together fairly well. Novigrad is clearly inspired by northern German and Poland, most primarily Gdansk, and prime-renaissance architecture for the upper-class buildings you would see in very old buildings in Rome. A similar mixture of different art styles is clearly seen in Townsmen as well. The game itself piqued my interests because of that, thats for sure.
Will pick it up. Not sure it's worth the price just yet tho.
