Get in the dungeon--you’ve got some demons to slaughter.

Torchlight, a fantasy hack-and-slash from the makers of Diablo and the runner-up in the Final Round of this year’s Battle of the Games, is available right now on GOG.com for only $8.99 (that’s 40 % off) until Friday, July 13 at 8:59 AM EDT.

Just look at the resumé of Runic Games founders: brothers Max and Eric Shaefer (Blizzard North co-founders; Project Lead, Design Lead and Art Director on Diablo and Diablo II), Travis Baldree (Fate and Hellgate: London), and Peter Hu (Army Men, Diablo II). With such a team behind an isometric hack-and-slash, no further recommendation is required. However, we’re obliged to tell you this: Torchlight is a fantastic game. It offers AAA production value, excellent gameplay, randomized levels, a lot of monsters and loot, and, most importantly, it’s incredibly fun.

Torchlight doesn’t promise anything more than it is: a gorgeous, challenging, and highly addictive dungeon crawler. There’s no multiplayer, no co-op, no surprising story, and no ‘ground-breaking’ ideas--just pick your class (The Destroyer--warrior, The Alchemist--spellcaster, or The Vanquisher--rogue), select an animal sidekick, and get in the dungeon filled with secret rooms, traps, swinging bridges, levers, shrines, some non-monster encounters, tons of loot, and hordes of monsters thirsty of your blood. If the dungeon isn’t random enough for you, then why not take Torchlight’s very own editor, TorchED, for a spin and make your own levels, add customized monster units, and much, much more!

If you miss the good ol’ RPGs of the ‘90s, check how the modern hack-and-slash should look like for the ridiculous price of $8.99 for the next 7 days.
Fantastic action rpg. Good graphics.great music and good action. Cant beat it.
Indeed, really good game. Glad it's finally up on GOG.
Good game, I own it on DVD, and now in digital format from GOG for $6 less than I originally payed. I'm now staring to just wait for my games to come out on GOG since I never seem to get around to playing them more than an initial test to see what they are like before life gets in the way.
uhh... unexpected :D

But a miss for me. Already playing it for years and with #2 upcoming and preordered, no need for this or the extras :)
Hell yeah. Tonight buying it. Now release Torchlight 2 when it is ready.
This means that you'll put TL2 up for preorder right?
I saw that easter egg in the screenshots, you carroty Jesus betrayer. :)
I didn't expect this... Great! :D
If Tirchlight 2 comes out for pre order here i will cry as already pre ordered on steam and gave the free Torchlight code to a friend so there will be no chance valve would allow me to cancel the pre order.

Hell i am even mopre annoyed as i promised that i would not buy any more games for a few months as i spent enough on the Secret world and grandmaster pack and you then have this at 40% off aaagggghhhh the world is against me.
Bought and nice to see this gem here. :)
Incredible game, much, , much better than Diablo 2. Too bad they never released multiplayer as promised.
Would be nice to have thesecond with the first free attached. Already got the first on steam.

Would have bought it if it won the match against riddick...

Wishlisted for now. :P
What makes Torchlight different from Diablo gameplay wise?
I keep hearing it is a straight up Diablo clone

(besides obvious things like mods and aesthetics)

I just started playing diablo 2 again, what with D3 being online only. I would be interested in playing this sort of game but really, what makes it better than D2? The graphics look cartoony which has never appealed to me.
