Reckless, beautiful, and well-equipped with twin pistols--Lara Croft is here!

Tomb Raider 1+2+3, the game that broke new ground in the third-person action genre, is available now on GOG.com for only $9.99.

If you’re one of those people who’ve never used a PC (welcome to GOG.com then!), never been to a movie theater, never owned a TV, and hate comic books, you might have never heard of Tomb Raider or Lara Croft. The Tomb Raider franchise spanned 14 games, 5 expansions, 2 movies, and countless comic books--not to mention incredible amounts of desktop wallpapers, posters and fan-art. Lara Croft is one of a kind--athletic, acrobatic, adventurous, attractive, and aristocratic, not to mention her short shorts and too-tight top. One of the (if not the) strongest and interesting female characters in gaming history is now available for download with EXTRAS for only $9.99, thanks to GOG.com, yours truly.

As a game, the first Tomb Raider was an enormous success, because it really offered “everything for everyone”: exceptional platforming action with jumping, running, and trigger-happy combat, intelligent puzzles and mazes, exploration and storyline for those who like adventures, and finally a wild ride of thrills, surprises, and challenges. Grab the original trilogy of Indiana Jones-style adventures with non-stop action, guns, puzzles, and double-D cup size.

Peru, Greece, Egypt, Atlantis, Venice, China, Tiber, London, Antarctica, and Lara’s home--you can visit all of those places in Tomb Raider 1+2+3 for only $9.99.
I will buy this only IF all the Gold levels are included also.

GeedAwesome: For $10 I thought I would give it a chance and I'm sad that I did. Saying all three games are for Windows was totally misleading. I knew the original TR was on DOS but thought this was a Windows version but I guess not. Not an auspicious beginning to me being a customer here,GOG, if you guys are going to be shady on the descriptions.
This post makes no sense. What is the issue?

dudalb: There never was a Windows version of the first Tomb Raider. IT was only released in DOS.
Maybe he was referring to Tomb Raider Gold, which according to MobyGames had also a Windows version?

Anyway, if one doesn't want DOS games, I think GOG may be the wrong place to be. Also, I didn't see any indication that this would be a Windows version, GOG just listed with which Windows versions these GOG releases are compatible with (with or without DOSBox).

fatihdgn: Does this bundle include gold levels of games?
I had the same question and wrote to the GOG support. Their answer just came:
"Hello, unfortunately we couldn't secure the rights to those expansions. We might be able to release them in the long-term, but I can't guarantee or promise anything.

Bought for TR1&3 (the only ones I played back in the day). Keep them coming GOG!
Are these really full games? I mean, all the music and video sequences? I find it a bit strange for 3 games to come in a size of 1 CD where in the past just TR3 arrived on 1 disc.

Btw, is The Lost Artifact addon for TR3 included? Haven't seen any mention of it so i'm assuming it's not...

That is odd for the TR 1 and 2 expansions, since Eidos released them as a free download about ten years ago,

Strijkbout: Yes, but he's extremely negative, read my posts on the previous page, maybe it will make up your mind.

hedwards: I think you mean realistic. The controls were always crap and really why developers even now insist upon releasing games that are ruined by such poor controls is beyond me.

The whole moveable camera thing isn't something that generally works. Tomb Raider was just as bad as Prince of Persia.
Prince of Persia Sands of Time was extremely playable to me. And then I don't recall a 3rd person action game whose camera view was unanimously perfect.

I should apologize for complaining. I got TR1 to work but when it kept screwing up I had bad DOS flashbacks of boot disks and Sound Blaster settings and incompatible hardware oh my. All is cool now.
I don't know how to put this but I was reading through some of the (user)reviews but one stated the folowing:

PC is Completely Different

Posted on 2012-05-30 20:35:22 by squishysupreme's avatar squishysupreme:

Many many people originally played these on the consoles, and like many game that were ported to the consoles, they suffered from poor camera controls, poor AI, and more importantly, poor resolution and shading.
The difference between these games on a PC versus a console is immense. You don't blindly jump sideways,, the camera can be freely rotated with a mouse, and you can actually see the small ledges and cracks that you need to jump to. Also, you can properly aim at creatures while jumping, which is very difficult to do with a console's controller. Yes, people learned to do this, but on the PC, it's dead-simple.
The second game is great on the PC as well - better than the first. The console version of it is pathetic, though. It simply overtaxed the memory and speed limits of the PS1 so they had to scale back the levels, AI, and graphics. A LOT.
The third has very difficult enemy AI on the PC and beautiful water graphics as well. Well worth playing.
Get the PC version. It's worth every penny. Twice over.

Was this helpful? (11 of 12 people found this helpful)
Altough I don't disagree with the absolute superiority of the PC version of the game ;o), I don't remember having it played with mousable camera and aiming controls in the versions I have played.

Can anyone confirm if the GOG versions have this?
I haven't read all the reviews but what is to be done if reviews contain wrong information?

gameon: You mean too late in the night?

Anyway, does the game start at all? I hope its not a problem for all GOG users (i also have the game bundle)
Yes too late in the night.

I am trying to run it in Mac os X using wineskin. Just asking for a CD at the moment. No idea how to fix it. I'll try some other time running it in Windows. Some other guy in the TR forums of GOG did get the no cd message while running it natively in Windows.
