A game that will take you way over the moon.

To The Moon, a beautiful story filled with humor, love, sadness, and joy, is available right now on GOG.com for $8.99--that’s 10% off until Tuesday, July 17 at 6:59 EDT.

To The Moon is about two scientists, Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts, who can alter a person’s memories. An old dying man named Johnny hires them to change his life, but only in his memory, and allow him to experience a final moment of happiness and accomplishment before he dies. Johnny wants to go to the moon. Eva and Neil need to go through his memories, plant a dream early in John’s childhood, and help him become an astronaut. They will explore his life, the stories of his friends and family, all intertwined in a rich and thought-provoking narrative.

In theory, To The Moon is a game, but it’s more of an experience, a unique story presented through our favorite medium. The game is not technically impressive, it doesn’t offer any new and cool visual bells and whistles, it is, however, beautiful and touching regardless of your age, gender, favorite genre, gaming skills, or sensitivity. This is a game for everyone who can appreciate fantastic storytelling, for everyone who misses 2D jRPG-style graphics, for everyone who loves adventures or indie games, and, finally, for everyone who wishes for a quiet time off--sinking into a game and getting out of this world.

To The Moon is a special, emotionally-charged title, that proves there are some areas that gaming as art has yet to explore. Get it now 10% off on GOG.com for $8.99 and you’ll be glad you did.
I think people are being too kind with this "game." First of all, it's not a game. There are no adventure game puzzles, other than the simple flip puzzles between sequences. The path finding is terrible, it basically has no gameplay. I did finish it and the story was really good but I don't feel that watching a 4 hr story warrants the price.

I have nothing against the graphics, I love these old school SNES type graphics. My issue is with the total lack of gameplay. Not worth the $9.

But people pay more than $10 to watch a two hour movie at the Cinema. Personally, it's pretty rare that I cry on a movie and even more on a video game. And To The Moon made my cry. So, considering that, it's totally worth the price in my opinion. It's like a KineticNovel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KineticNovel). And the music is superb too!

To be fair, in the release announcement (although admittedly not on the game card) GOG themselves wrote:

I'd agree with xaemar that it's fair to pay $9 for a comparatively new indie game with great story and soundtrack that keeps you entertained for four hours and is able to touch you. But to a certain extent I also agree with you that with all the praise for story and soundtrack it's often omitted how primitive the gameplay is. I really really enjoyed the story and didn't regret buying it (for more than $9, IIRC), but it's not exactly fun to "play" and I probably won't ever replay it. But I more or less knew what to expect, because I read several different reviews and checked out the demo before buying. And if you know what to expect, it's a great experience (just not a great game, I give you that).

And Steam is selling movies, too. ;)

I played this game on Onlive Gaming Service and the soundtrack fucking rocks! It was only a demo on the service but it is a very very good game.
