The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, the winner of the Final Round of this year’s Battle of the Games and a brutal adrenaline-pumped Sci-Fi FPS, is available right now on GOG.com with a 60% discount until Friday, July 13 at 8:59 AM EDT.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is a dynamic first-person shooter set in a gritty sci-fi universe. The game offers the dark pleasure of becoming Riddick, an ironfisted, relentless, and cold-blooded criminal, who will not hesitate to use his hand-to-hand combat skills, stealth ability, and excessive firepower to escape mercenary ship Dark Athena. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is basically two games in one: the graphically enhanced and polished original Riddick game: Escape from The Butcher’s Bay and Assault on Dark Athena, which continues the story of your favorite eye-shining antihero.

Boasting a full-flavored mix of action, stealth, and adventure with excellent voice acting by Michelle Forbes, Lance Henrikssen, and fan-favorite Vin Diesel, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is now available on GOG.com for $5.99.

Multiplayer notice: Due to issues beyond our control, multiplayer is not functional.
This game kicked a thousand asses to get on here, including laying the smack down on TAGES. It's honestly one of the best games, and really highlights what can be done with a good license (Yeah, the second film in the Riddick series isn't great, but its still a compelling sci-fi universe)

Too bad this doesn't have the Director's Commentary from what I've read: such an under implemented feature that adds so much to the value and enjoyment of a game.
Does anybody know why this game is listed as an indie game?
Uhm, why is the director's commentary missing from the GOG release? or it was missing in all PC versions?

taczillabr: I wonder why The Darkness was not released for PC, would buy that for sure since it is by the same devs.

StingingVelvet: It was an early release on modern consoles. Often during that period there are many less PCs that can handle a port, so companies don't bother. Same thing will probably happen next year, sadly.
Indeed, exclusivity and the context you mentioned.

Like The Darkness, Halo 3 is another good example (Halo 2 Anniversary is coming soon IIRC for Xbox 360, but then a Halo 3 Anniversary will come probably only for the next MS console, more powerful, in a context; Would be nice if 3 re-release came still in this generation, and MS then could offer the trilogy for sale on PC).

It was released the same day as Torchlight, which is *not* listed as 'indie' currently. Someone at gog mixed these two releases I guess...
Just noticed that in the release message they mention some of the voice actors but not Xzibit and Ron Perlman as well as John DiMaggio in minor roles. So: yeah, these guys are in there too.

I don't know how it was on the consoles but on PC the commentary was exclusive to Escape From Butcher Bay. This also kinda makes sense since a big part of the commentary is about the technology used in EFBB and since this is a remake using a new (or at least heavily pimped) engine this wouldn't make so much sense.

Edit: Okay, I was wrong. The commentary used to only be available as pre-order DLC, was then made available for free, was then taken down, but is apparently available again. You can find it here: Riddick DLC

I'd rather say that after Halo 2's PC release being a huge failure MS believes that porting the series to PC is not worth the effort (not to mention that many games have been console exclusives in the past only because the developers or publisher believed that the amount of piracy present on PC would harm sales on both systems). This is pretty ridiculous since Halo 2 on PC mostly failed because of two of MS' own moronic decisions, namely porting the game at a time when it was already heavily dated and making it a Vista exclusive. I mean, honestly: it's pretty fucked up to use a game that's been around for three years on Xbox to showcase the possibilities of the then Vista-exclusive DX10. Most people were still using XP back then and Halo 2's visuals weren't even good for a DX9 game. But whatever - Halo 2 failed, so no more Halo for us PC gamers. Not to mention that a similar decision was made concerning the Gears of War sequels, blaming the high amount of pirated copies of the original game's PC version.

Heh, Riddick seems to rule the sales charts. Notice how high up in the list of all GOG releases it already is. O_O

Thanks for the information, F4LL0UT.
I had no idea it was a pre-order DLC back in the day, if it is such a small patch I wonder why GOG does not include that commentary (and maybe the maps).

About Halo trilogy, I was talking not about the original versions, but the recent re-releases, called Anniversary editions. Since those are recent I doubt much effort is needed for Microsoft to port them over to PC, other than the multiplayer aspect. Heck I would pay to pay the singleplayer only of the re-releases, on PC. ;)

Gears of War is a different story though, since it didn't got any remakes. Microsoft recently released Fable 1 on PC, so that's why I have a bit of a hope for the Halo trilogy.

My guess is that they weren't even aware of its existence. I'm a big fan and hadn't heard of those. Would be great if GOG included this stuff via update.

Doesn't matter which releases you're talking about - after the Halo 2 fail I doubt Microsoft is ever gonna consider porting any Halo game to the PC again, no matter how small the effort might be.

Uhm, actually Fable 1 was already released on PC in 2005 titled "Fable: The Lost Chapters" - that's definitely not "recently". ;) They totally skipped Fable 2 though and it doesn't seem that this one is ever going to get ported to PC (while for some reason Fable 3 got a port again... what non-sense...).

Indeed it was released at retail back then. I meant the recent digital release on Steam as a signal of change on Microsoft's part (GFW Marketplace does not count, who does use that =p)

As I said, I have no expectations of the remaining Gears and Fable titles to ever come to PC. But have hopes for the Halo trilogy of re-releases on PC.
So when the 60% off promo ends?

That's awesome and i'll get my paycheck on this friday, so i know where i sent the next 6$ :)
Just thought I'd say that his works with the GOG version and adds a commentary option in the game's settings.

I can't imagine GOG having any problems if they wanted to add this to the bonus content on the game's download page.
If I didn't already have this on console, then I'd totally pick it up here... great price!
