The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, the winner of the Final Round of this year’s Battle of the Games and a brutal adrenaline-pumped Sci-Fi FPS, is available right now on GOG.com with a 60% discount until Friday, July 13 at 8:59 AM EDT.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is a dynamic first-person shooter set in a gritty sci-fi universe. The game offers the dark pleasure of becoming Riddick, an ironfisted, relentless, and cold-blooded criminal, who will not hesitate to use his hand-to-hand combat skills, stealth ability, and excessive firepower to escape mercenary ship Dark Athena. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is basically two games in one: the graphically enhanced and polished original Riddick game: Escape from The Butcher’s Bay and Assault on Dark Athena, which continues the story of your favorite eye-shining antihero.

Boasting a full-flavored mix of action, stealth, and adventure with excellent voice acting by Michelle Forbes, Lance Henrikssen, and fan-favorite Vin Diesel, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is now available on GOG.com for $5.99.

Multiplayer notice: Due to issues beyond our control, multiplayer is not functional.
Very nice offer. :)

I almost bought it at GamersGate (it was on sale there for roughly the same price a while ago), but the version there is still Tages-infected, so I passed.

Thanks for bringing us a DRM-free version! :)

Bouli: Not sure if Avira being overprotective (as usual) or if there is actually a problem: the game launches and runs properly, but when i quit, my destkop does weird stuff like my nVidia control panel crashing instantly (display still OK though). Hope it's just a coincidence cause i never had this kind of problem before. I'll try a couple more times and tell you if my PC explodes :p

EDIT: Well it's weird. I had to reinstall my graphic pilots because the nVidia control panel didn't want to launch anymore. Hoping this is not related.
It's not only Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials is also reporting it. It seems an old problems, searching for the involved file (dvm.dll) also Risen 2 has the same problem. I also found a link about Riddick. So, it's very likely a false positive, but with Avast and Microsoft Essentials involved (two of the most used free virus scanners) gog should really try to fix this.

Edit: It found the thread about it in the subforum and it seems not only avira and mse quarantine the file.

Edit2: Someone already scanned the file online. I know the prolems with false positives and I'm sure gog is legit, but 25 out of 42 scanners with a positive report is too high. Maybe gog should contact atari and starbreeze or try themselves if a different version of dvm.dll would work.

Thanks for the link. Knowing Atari and the Steam version of Riddick they released, i wouldn't be surprised if GOG version had some problems too (especially if this is the same version: 1.0.0 as mentioned when downloading). I uninstalled the game for now, just in case - i already have plenty of others to do.
Bought.
Thank you GOG!
My problem is that I keep getting the message "Can't initialize (0xc0000022)

Does anyone here know what that means?
You did a good job by adding the first game.

I received this message when Microsoft Security Essentials was in the middle of quarantine process (i.e. it warned me later but the file dvm.dll was already removed). If you use same security software, I recommend to remove the file from History and then immediately put dvm.dll among Excluded files and locations in Settings.
Insta-Bought and now this replaces my unused Disc Copy

That is most likely the problem as I did keep getting warnings from my anti virus program when it started to identify files as viruses.
I thought I could overcome this problem by clicking the warning menu away but it probably removed the files anyway.

I am not using Microsoft Security Essentials but G Data Internet Security, but I can't find the history menu to put the file back.

I see. I'm sorry but I don't have any experience with your SW. Right now I can think of finding relevant settings in SW, launching GOG installator again and add the file as an expection.

Default path should be:
Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\The Chronicles of Riddick - Assault on Dark Athena\System\Win32_x86/dvm.dll

Good luck!

After you earlier advice I looked on the internet for any means to put .dll files back on my PC.
I did find a program http://www.dll-files.com/ and it did put in a few missing files but the game still refused to run afterwards.

The DLL file is provided by the installer, so there is no need to find it online. Try:
1. Open your AV.
2. Add the exception for Riddick's directory, see the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlT54wlQy-Y
3. Launch the GOG installer again.

The DLL file should appear again and be ignored by AV. If it doesn't, maybe it would be better to contact GOG support or try this thread:

Bouli: I installed the game, Avira says it has a virus: Obfuscate.XZ.4858

Avira is annoying (i had this problem with Rayman too) but i would like to be sure the game is safe. Can anyone at GOG confirm this?

Microsoft Security Essentials is doing it also. Anyway of making this file acceptable to the antivirus programs without telling it to accept it. Is this file needed to run the game I read that this is part of the TAGES DRM system.

DRM Legalized Viruses.

JMich Thanks got it working I had to download it 2x to get it to work but its working now except for having a DRM Virus file in it.

Aindo: Bought this on Steam and could not get it to work.

Buying here because I know it will. Thanks for the release GOG.

KainDrake: Why wasn't the one on steam working? :/
I have a high end rig yet the game would not change to a higher resolution. I searched for solutions but anything I found was not certain to work for everyone. Unfortunately I was one of the people the solutions would not work for.

There are lots of people with the same or similar issues with the game on the steam forum. Just hoping that this version will work (not downloaded it yet).
