One delightful pirate reunion

We have launched a new developer today--Telltale Games, the finest purveyor of episodic adventure games--and we’re starting off with three fantastic adventures: Sam & Max Save the World, Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space, and Tales of Monkey Island. All three games are on a huge "Welcome to GOG" sale for Telltale, and will be 60% off until 3 July.

Tales of Monkey Island, a game full of pirates, voodoo, and Guybrush Threepwood, is available for the next 7 days with a huge 60% discount--that’s $13.99 for the game with wallpapers, avatars, high-res artworks, developer commentary videos and more goodies.

Tales of the Monkey Island is the fifth game in the beloved Monkey Island series. The game follows fair-haired Guybrush Threepwood who, along with his new wife Elaine Marley-Threepwood, finds himself on a new adventure. This time, our heroes are on a goal to destroy two things: Guybrush's arch-nemesis--the zombie pirate LeChuck--and a voodoo pox that Guybrush accidentally unleashed upon the world. The entertaining story, stunning visuals, clever puzzles, and faithful adherence to the original Monkey Island games earned a lot of praise from critics and great commercial success as well. Tales of the Monkey Island is available on sale for $13.99 until Tuesday, July 3 at 6:59 AM EDT. Be sure to check out the other Telltale Games releases today, all of which are on sale for until 3 July.

If you’re a fan of old-school adventure games or a pirate (YARRRRRR!) you don’t really need any recommendation for and Tales of Monkey Island for $13.99.

First GOG begins to release newer games, and now they're supporting pirates!! I never thought I'd see the day!

Great work guys. Really! ^_^
I like this clever selection of newer games related to "good old games". And thank a god I didn't buy them yet somewhere else... :-)

This is one of my favorite games of recent memory. I've already purchased it twice. Sorely tempted to buy it a third time.
Great releases, hopefully the other Monkey Island games will come here eventually

Also: Really loving the amount of extra content and goodies packed into these new releases, keep it up GOG

Leroux: To be fair, it's seems to be a good description of The Walking Dead though, from what I've seen, so if tfishell played that and played or read about Jurassic Park (not sure how Back To The Future fits into that equation, haven't tried it yet), then I can see where that impression is coming from, even if it's a generalization that does most of their other games like Sam & Max, Monkey Island, Strong Bad, Hector or Puzzle Agent an injustice.
Yeah, Walking Dead fair enough, but he only saw some of that. Sam & Max is the only one he actually played, and that one is definitely a proper adventure game which is why I'm puzzled by his conclusions. Back to the Future is also definitely a point and click adventure, but it's incredibly easy even compared to Tales of MI and Sam & Max season 3.

I completely agree. I missed these titles when they were originally released due to complete disinterest on my part. Things have changed since though and I'm glad they are here DRM-Free with all these lovely goodies included. Like you, I hope we get the other Monkey Island games as eventually as well.

Tales of Monkey Island release on 60% sale? The Secret of Monkey Island was the first adventure I've ever played and so far I've never had the opportunity (nor funds) to try anything from Telltale Games. I consider it a dooty to buy this now, and dooty is dooty, eh, mate? Arrrr!

Necdilzor: LOL! I forgot that xD! Stupid me :1

SirPrimalform: I think $34.99 is a bit steep by now, but who knows, perhaps those are the terms of the LucasArts licence...
Yeah, at least they are DRM free. I hope we see the originals soon :D
whew. 14 quid. that's lunch for a whole week for me!
Telltale belongs here! They may not be that "old" but they are already classic. Sam And Max; Tales of Monkey Island: Is there any chance we may be taking any trips Back To The Future soon as long as Universal Pictures gives the nod?
Yes these games seem a bit expensive, but each one has several episodes, and each episode is a game in itself. These games are somewhat newer than many of the Good Old Games, but GOG seems to also mean games that carry on the traditions of the great classics.

Tarhiel: Nice! :)

ToMI and S&M looks both good. BUt for now, I´ll have to stick with Blackwell Bundle.

kalirion: Well, they're pretty different - it's like comparing Space Quest with Gabriel Knight, one's comedy the other one's a drama.
Oh, I know, what I wanted to say is, that right now I have a Blackwell Bundle on my wishlist and no money to spend on more games, so when payday will come, it will be B. Bundle I will be buying.
Soooo awesome. Is LucasArts around the corner? Here's to hoping.
I would not get my hopes up, but having two Lucasarts franchises (even though they have been produced under licence by another company) can't hurt the chances of Lucasarts getting to gog.
Problem is that lucasarts got a little burned by Steam's messing up the updating of a couple of their games, and Lucararts took the heat from a lot of fans for what Steam was to blame for ( mainly the messed up release of Jedi Knight ) and no one likes to be blamed for other' people's mistakes.\
Hopefully Gog will make clear that they will do a proper job of converting the Lucasrats Windows game to a modern computer, not something as messed up as the Steam versions were.

I just finished the Blackwell Bundle and wasn't that impressed. By the end of the second game, I was bored stiff and really didn't want to play the third at all. There's too much walking around, a lot of not particularly interesting dialogue, nor is it funny, and the what was an 'original' premise in the first game, by the third gets very old.

Unfortunately, the bundle put me off those kinds of games so much I ended up taking Resonance off my wish list. I couldn't image playing 15 HOURS of something like that. The only thing the third Blackwell had going for it, IMO, was it was short :)

But....I'm in the middle of the first Sam and Max and it's fast-paced and hilarious. Beautifully written game and extremely fun to play.

The extras on the first Sam and Max are pretty awesome (bought Episode 1 yesteday, hoping to pick up Episode 2 before the sale ends). I'm especially loving the machinima - they're well-designed and very funny.

Will also be buying Tales of Monkey Island when I get paid today.

Smannesman: Darnit, I actually got excited for a second.
But no, still no Lucasarts.
avatar
lugum: it was a tease, but hey if these sell well it might persuade lucasarts.
No, no, no, no, no! This is the EXACT attitude they are counting on! Buying the B list games does NOT encourage the release of the A list games, it encourages the release of more B list games! *sigh*, I wish people understood economics.
