Your Strike Suit has received an upgrade!

Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut, a visually stunning revival of space combat sim genre, is now available on GOG.com for $19.99

As of today, the original version of Strike Suit Zero and its DLC packages are no longer available for sale. We are replacing the original version with Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut which will include the original Strike Suit Zero and its DLCs.

For those of you who purchased the original Strike Suit Zero, you will find a special code called "Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut 85% off" in the same place where any multiplayer keys are usually displayed. Don't worry, you'll still have the original box and goodies on your shelves as before.

Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut includes the following:

- The Heroes of the Fleet mission pack.

- The Marauder and Raptor Strike Suits.

- Improved ship models and other graphical enhancements.

-The original Strike Suit Zero and its accompanying DLC packages for those who haven't purchased the original game on GOG.com. These will be available as bonus goodies :).
Hello Judas,

Sorry to bother you again with it, but do you know already if the 32bit binaries are included in the GOG version of the Directors Cut? I would really like to know it, before the discount expires.
Thank you very much :)

Starmaker: The site glitched out on me and the code is now "used". Sigh. Okay, I'll wait until the game is on an actual 85% discount.

JudasIscariot: Please write to Support about this, thanks :)
Thanks JuriJ and Judas, got it!

Seems a rather convoluted way to release what seems to be a rather small DLC, but eh, bought it anyway. What's another $3 during Insomnia week, eh? :)
Read most of the comments, but most of the issues seem not so important in my mind. I'm just glad that the original version persists for owners whether bundled with the new game or separately listed on the shelf.

For a cosmetic upgrade I might take issue at paying again, since it includes DLC which was previously reserved for kickstarter backers it seems fair to pay a small amount for it. Fair to backers who might feel it should have been exclusive to them, and fair since there is new content for existing owners.

As for unwanted games on the shelf, I personally use the list view and just use the browser's search to find the games I"m after, I really don't care how many are in the list or what versions I have. With over 600 games in my collection hiding one or two here or there makes little difference. I guess there are people out there with only a small number of games and they want it to stay that way.

Oh well bought it now and now that I finally have working backups for this FreeNAS (FreeBSD based file server) working I can trust downloading and putting more games there for quick access and safe keeping.

ReynardFox: ... Though I am most definitely requesting deletion of the original game, the two boxes together on the shelf look appallingly redundant, especially when the Director's Cut actually comes with the original game as a bonus.
I gave support feedback about my reluctance to buy it as long as they don't merge both versions on the shelf.

That's the answer: "Because more users prefer to have both versions on their account, I'm afraid we will not be able to fulfil your request."

Yeah, but not all. That's why there should be an option to merge.

So, has anyone tried the Directors Cut and compared it to the original game +DLC?. Worth it?
I tried the SSZ Directors Cut in 32bit. to make a better comparison, i installed both, the directors cut and the original SSZ. I played only a few missions so far. All on a 32bit machine of course. Well it DOES work, but you can see that the lightning effects in the game aren`t made for a 32bit system. In my opinion the original game does even look better in some cases. For example the in-cockpit perspective. But some things like explosions are looking better in the DC.

I played with keyboard and mouse. The controls are pretty much the same in both versions, but somehow the original game controls feel much better. Ok i`ll have to admit that I have 4GB ram only on my machine, which runs the original game much faster. The greatest improvement of the DC is in my opinion the soundtrack, which is really atmospheric. Of course It wasn`t uploaded as bonus content.

Note: This is not a general comparison between both games, but describes only my personal experiences for the 32bit versions.

Gave up on completing the tutorial after it glitched on me for the fifth time and uninstalled.
What a waste of time and money, and it was so promising :(

Good Thing I only paid 3.5$ for this, If I had paid full price I would be pulling my hair.
Your friendly neighbourhood necromancer would like to remind you that if you have a discount code from the original version, and haven't redeemed it yet, there are only a few days left before it expires. After which not even necromancy will bring it back.

P1na: Will it expire or we have to redeem it in the next few days?
avatar
nuuttiT: Mine says it will be active till May 13, 2015
Mine says May 12, 2015; a question of time zones, I expect.
