mintee: nice trailer, liked the art, music and humor of it, will wait to see gameplay vids as it looked kind of slow
It's a turn based side scrolling strategy. I think that's the best description, it can be as fast as you want, certainly all actions are quickly resolved and the pace kept me interested throughout.

zlep: Is there any gameplay relevance to all those hats? Or are they just decorative?
They're pure collectibles that you can customize your characters with (all hats fit all characters).

I'm four missions in and love it so far!
Got this on Steam, very good, I recommend!

It's like 2D X-Com but less harsh and more latitude for difficulty. And in the same meta universe as Steamworld Dig.

Hopefully there'll be an offer to get it freely with the Steam link, I'd gladly add it to my gog library.

Is it worth buying now or wait for a 50% off or greater sale?

It's certainly a fair price considering both the length and quality of the game, but I can see it hitting 50% off in the next round of sales. Its definitely worth $15 though.
To be honest, I've never tried Steamworld Dig. Heist looks great and I imagine I'd love it if the trailer is anything to go by. How is Dig though?

Steamworld dig was really fun, you basically get a number of zones each with varying enemies and hazards. I didn't find it mega difficult but it kept me engaged throughout and the limited story was delivered in a nice way.

It is also played in real-time unlike Heist where you play in turns. From what I sussed out Heist is based after Dig but they aren't directly linked.

well... you dig :D

the system is basically the first Diablo, only platform/jumpy instead of clickity-click... you start on the surface (some shops there, quest givers) and you go down, you can freely choose where to dig (if you go straight down you obviously might miss something higher up)... you find and gather money to get through harder terrain (lower down) and stuff...

it's a lot of fun really :)

It's a different kind of game set in the same universe. The robot galaxy, art style and some of the sound effects are the same, and Steamworld Dig also employs a much simplified version of the shopping mechanics. But that's basically it. Steamworld Dig is a fun action game with plenty of button mashing. There's nothing actiony in Steamworld Heist.
Good to know this is apparently a great game. I couldn't really tell from the store page and trailer, it looked like some kind of gimmicky puzzle platformer where you perform some kind of gimmicky "trick shots", mainly ricocheting shots by walls. I would have easily given it a pass by that alone.

Apparently it is something more as so many people rave about it here. It doesn't look anything like "XCom in 2D" to me. :)

Maybe i am not the biggest fan of turn-based tactical/strategy games, BUT I did enjoy e.g. Gorky 17, and now I am enjoying Fallout Tactics (in turnbased combat mode). I like how relaxed turn-based tactical can be (ie. I can even go to eat or something between rounds), but on the flipside the missions sometimes feel like taking forever when your team mates are crawling in sneak mode through the whole map...

If this game is anything like those turn-based games, hey great!

That's because it isn't. Yes, it has turns, strategic positioning/moving of your robo-dudes and gals, and some very light inventory management. The actual gameplay is so different though it's a stupid comparison. In the same vein of anything being remotely challenging being compared to Dark Souls. Ugh.

Ah ok. I just saw someone else above mentioning "X-Com 2D" and I was a bit puzzled as it doesn't look like anything like that.

Well... I wouldn't say it's something entirely new, but I still don't know what game to compare it to.

It reminds me a bit of Incubation (Battle Isle Phase 4) and/or Space Crusade (the 1990 board game), both of which could be considered 2D as well, strictly speaking. The strategy element of Steamworld Heist is similar, not particularly deep but neatly plays with layout/geometry and the special abilities of differing team members, which you constantly expand with level ups and gear.

The trickshots are gimmicky, make no mistake. However, most weapons don't support trickshooting/rebounds that much. If that's an element you don't want in the game, I guess you can choose weapons without laser sights throughout (which have the tendency to be more powerful anyway). In that way, aiming becomes a bit like the earlier "Worms" games, albeit without the time pressure. If that's not at all your cup of tea, I suggest to not play it.

Are there any news depending the Soundtrack Dlc?
Even a "we are not allowed to sell it on GoG" would be nice.
Just to know if it is possible to get it here.
