The marvels of evolution.

SPORE™, an organic playground of custom-made creations, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount.

At what stage does a living organism start taking its shape, absorbing influences from its environment, its parents, or its peers? For these SPORE™s it happens during their very conception when you get to decide their characteristics and traits, then see them grow from Cells, to Creatures, to an entire Tribe, to a glorious Civilization, and eventually a Space-faring people. Apart from your virtual offspring themselves, you will also get to design their vehicles and buildings, as well as determine all aspects of their eventful lives. And eventful they will be, because when you start exploring the universe, other species might try to befriend or fight your guys for intergalactic supremacy. It's a wonderful journey that begins with the versatile creation tool, but the decisions you make along the way will determine how, where, or even when it will end.

Create your own unique species and spread their influence across the galaxy with SPORE™, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% discount will last until September 29, 12:59 PM UTC.

Err... Spore? Ground-Zero Online DRM Spore? Cool, as good as bought :)
Ah Spore, one of the famous huge disappointments.
Well, well.
I was trying to get this on the last sale on Steam, but for some odd reason (actually great) the Galactic Adventures wasn't available on that platform for users of Portugal and Spain, and still isn't. I then turned my eyes to check on Origin, and the price wasn't that great either. I was going to wait.
And then came GoG :)

Impaler26: Hm... isn't SPORE an online game? So is this version fully playable offline?

Also be aware of this notice on the gamecard:

"Important notice: EA Account registration is needed to access the game's online features. Please check here for details. "

Luned: Our old physical copy ran fine offline. You just don't have your game populated with things other people have created.
Considering some of the reviews describing some of those creatures...that might be a good thing.

moonshineshadow: Interesting. Did not expect that.

haydenaurion: Can't say I did myself.
That is one of the issues with GOG.

People tend to buy games elsewhere right before they release here because GOG gives no indication that they'll be here at all.

tinyE: never heard of it but it looks like a must have
Well, imagine your parents having sex and giving birth to you, Tiny and you have a good idea of what Spore is about.
:-)

It's about evolution from amoebas to space civilizations.

In case no answered, Spore is a MMOSPG. Or at least that was how it was described by PR. Basically the only "online" component is the ability to upload your creations to the web portal and for you to download those of other people from inside the game. Actual gameplay is 100% single player. You don't need the online function, but it would limit you ingame content.

I'd be interested in knowing if Galactic Adventures registers to Spore's site correctly. I could never get the Steam version of it to register so could not access user created adventures - making the expansion fairly useless.

Touwa: The SPORE™ Collection includes:
- SPORE™
- SPORE™ Galactic Adventures
- SPORE™ Creepy & Cute Parts Pack

scrambleshanx: Thank you :D
Does it also include the "Exoskeleton limbs pack"?
I paid $80 for the Galaxy Edition of this in the white cool box. You could only install it 3 times, and the installer would be deactivated. That was pretty lame, so I never installed or played it. Hmmm...
fun game, kinda repetitive in the space parts though
Okay I have to ask what the deal is with this game.

I remember the idea of it sounded very compelling on release, plus it had Will Wright behind it. Then it released and *boom* - what was so "bad" about it? I completely missed what happened post-release.

Because the game actually does look really interesting.

Horrendous DRM happened.

Plus the fact that "evolution" and design has no part in how the creature actually moves.

My understanding from videos and such is that it depends on luck, and finding the right body part.

ah, yes... THAT's why i didn't pick this up in 2008.
Spore DRM-Free? That's nice! I'll have to read some reviews about it and see if I'm interested in it, because when it released back then I didn't even cared about it due to the DRM, to the point that I don't even know what type of game it is...
Oh hey, it's the 2008 prototype of No Man's Sky. Did they ever fix that terrible bug where there was absolutely nothing to do in the back half of the game?

Its a god game like the upcoming Universim just different aspect. In Spore you evolve your people from cells, to beings, create their body parts and put them together and help them conquer your planet and then go in to space and do stuff there :)
