Mafwek: Not really, they have right to criticize whatever they don't like, and they also deserved to be called names for perceived stupidity.

SuperCereal: It is understandable that you got a little bit heated at the beginning but insisting you can call someone stupid because you "perceive" they are so is not right. If someone thinks you are stupid because they disagree with you I'm pretty sure you'd rather have them say why they disagree omitting the "you're stupid" part (most likely because you're not stupid, they just perceive you that way).

Also, warning others about the lack of features on a certain product, when the product is more expensive, is very important. Sure I don't care about archievements the same way I didn't care about the online feature in Dragon's Dogma but if I did I would've wanted a refund.

And lastly, in regards of the people that say that giving the game one start for this problem is petty and unfair I'd say it's very healthy since there's way too many people giving undeserved five stars to all the games and even with these "petty" one star reviews the overall rating won't balance out. I've never seen an industry where the consumers are the actual scammers overhypping games that are average, mediocre or even bad, luring other consumers to buy them. I don't think this game deserves one star but it's so far from five that's not even funny.
Actually, I firmly believe I am stupid, but I believe rest of mankind is much worse. Okay, I am joking, but it's not far off from what I believe - that we all make mistakes from time to time, but we have to be brave enough to admit them and smart enough to learn from them.
I do admit that calling somebody stupid when "petty" and "ignorant" would be more polite and accurate is little too far. Now for your points:

1) Yes, warning about lack of features of a certain product is always good, however: a) you don't need to behave entitled about lack of certain feature, just like I should not call people stupid; because b) not all features are equally important and c) we should strive to judge games as works of art more than games as a product or a service.

2) Saying games should get lower scores because they are (somewhat) over-hyped is similar to suggesting we should redistribute world wealth, because some people have unjustly large amount of it compared to others. Not saying you are necessarily wrong, but I question the ethics of your method.

1) Completely agree. I have this feeling when I see fellow country men demanding the game to be in our language and judging the game poorly because of it. But there's a small difference here, and it's the fact that the feature is included in a different shop, at a lower price, for the same platform. Not justifying the ways some people demand these things, I only saw one review about it in this case and it seemed pretty mild.

2) I disagree, specially with the comparison. I'm not talking about taking all the stars and redistribute them equally but rather take artificially inflated ratings and getting them closer to reality with artificially deflated ones. Basically is not redistribution of wealth but sanctions to the rich that evaded taxes. I would prefer people being more objective or honest but that's much harder to accomplish. I guess I'm very dissapointed in too many titles I purchased alredy, as most of them haven't been because low or high standards of quality but rather objective flaws like clunky controls, extremely linear and boring story and characters or even gamebreaking bugs that people seem to be so lenient about.

Sorry if I bring negativity to the hype but I had very high expectations for this game that got crushed with the free weekend and the gameplay videos.
If anyone is interested in a review.
low rated
I will from now on give games(that I'm interested in) 1 star if those games don't have any achievements for GOG, while they have achievements for Steam.

I honestly don't care what anyone think about it. I pay for those games, not you. You can agree or disagree. But calling people names, just cause you don't agree, it's rather childish. But maybe some of you here are children. But no matter, I take no offence. Nor I want to argue about it. But I will not change my mind about it. :D

Have a wonderful day! :)
Ah achievements, they're like a separate game attached to the base game in order to motivate you to play it. We gamify everything these days, from exercise to managing finances, but those activities are work. Do we really need to gamify the experience of playing a game?

We need to gamify the experience of gamifying the experience of playing a game. It means that GOG should add GOG-achievements that rely on game-achievements.

Not always the case.

Have you ever played games like CKII and EUIV ? Those two games have the best kind of achievements. The kind where you have to plan everything in advance in order to be able to unlock some achievements.

It's not about motivation, but challenge rather. Planning ahead and trying to stick to your plan is what is all about. But that's no fun for people that don't play chess or similar games, I can understand that.

Especially after 600 and so hours in, those kind of achievements gives life to the game. But hey, that's just my opinion, I guess.
I can just shake my head seeing you bicker about missing Achievments...

This game, and GoG in general, has a bigger problem. Two words: Patch management.

I saw this first with Divinity Original Sin 2, which i did not buy here, i just redeemed my pledge here. Which was not without problems itself.
For those who do not know, D:OS2 was frequently patched in the beginning. I expected frequent patches, it's a new release after all. But I did not expect GoG's patch management. GoG always has only the latest patch available for download. Even if there was just a day between patches, only the latest is available. And those patches are cumulative, so if you missed one, have fun downloading the whole game again.

I then bought Elex here, honestly, mainly because of the fair price package. It made the game 7.70 Euro cheaper than on Steam, and I have a couple of games in mind to spend the funds on. And again, just the latest patch is available for download...

And finally Spellforce 3. Again, my main reason for buying this here was the fair price policy. But this time, the patch management is even worse.
THERE ARE NO PATCHES AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD AT ALL!
It seems you have to download the whole effin game again to update! Almost 10 gigabytes (it's the smallest of the three games i mentioned here)
I am very lucky that i do not have a metered connection, but i would still need about 8 hours to download the whole installer again...

GoG lost a customer. I will not buy any new game here anymore. Old games might be an exception, but i simply cannot buy new games here anymore.

Caesar.: Lately I'm finding waiting 2-3 years for a Gold/Complete/GOTY edition is totally fine. But that's another story.

ped7g: Exactly, and if I'm particularly interested into actually playing the game (lately I found out I'm hoarding the games here on the GOG without even installing them ... in hundreds...), I'm also waiting for linux version, or confirmation that wine handles it really well. SF3 at the moment doesn't fit any of that (no linux, and the limited demo didn't work with wine), but *congrats to developers for releasing* a game, I know how hard that is and especially before the successful release the required effort is huge. Maybe I will buy it few years later.
I bought the game on-release-date and hopefully a Linux release (Wine-d one's fine too) will be available in the future. The end of Win 7/8 mainstream maintenance is (almost) effective (extended ends 2020/3) and I'll not upgrade to Win 10. I plan to switch completely (no dual-boot for gaming!) to Fedora next year.
- I'll start buying games supporting Linux -- game on/off
- on the positive side(for me) spending for games will drop *unless* Devs do consider Linux ports or Wine compatibility.

Cheers!

It looks amazing... Just the way I always wanted an RTS to look like. I'm not sure sbout gameplay, it seems a bit overwhelming and the reviewer thought things were happening too fast (at least at first). I have gotten used to a slower pace over the years. I wish I had played the demo when it was available.

If someone is having trouble getting through the prologue it must be a Cossacks game. :P

Not sure how many games you have, but once you hit 100 and more, it is rather convenient to use Galaxy with auto-update. Problem solved, no ?

Galaxy isn't that bad, really! :)
Nope, not going to happen. Call me hardline in that regard if you want ;)

I already have enough ressource eating, always online crap on my machine, I will not add Galaxy to that.
And if that is all that is left of being "optional", well that is the straw that broke the camels neck, so to speak.

With that stance in effect, i will not buy new releases at GoG anymore.
