Europe’s answer to JRPGs

The story of epic conflict of light versus dark and steel versus Silver is available for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Something is wrong in the world: an evil sorcerer has abducted all of the women in it for his own evil and nefarious purposes. You and your grandfather set on a journey to rescue your beloved Jennifer, who has been kidnapped by a lustful wizard named Silver, who’s searching for a new bride and ordered his son to round up all the ladies of the land, which naturally pissed you off, which will result in evil wizard being defeated, which will only be possible after you visit over 200 awe-inspiring locations, meet 50 NPCs and recruit a team of six bravest of the mighty, and mightiest of the brave, which might not sound like an awesome premise for a game, but is in fact a great action RPG, which blends many different elements and delivers wonderfully entertaining swashbuckling goodness. Swish! Kling! Klang! Swoosh! KA-pow!

Silver takes the feeling and looks of the game from jRPG but offers a unique combat system: instead of simply clicking an enemy to attack, you can get into some kind of “battle mode” and thrust, sideswipe, back swing, dodge, and parry. And that’s awesome! The story is linear but makes up for it by being interesting and fast-paced. Graphics? 3D polygonal characters on rendered 2D backdrops similar to Alone in the Dark, but don’t think that the graphics are bad; backgrounds look fantastic, and characters are nicely animated.

Overall, Silver is a great RPG; it does not offer the depth of Baldur’s Gate, but it’s a great time-and-wizard-killer that combines elements action and adventure of Final Fantasy VII, Diablo, and Die by the Sword and delivers wonderful sound, graphics, and interface. Silver is available right now on GOG.com for only $5.99!
Hooooooooooooooly shit. This was literally the only game I was waiting for to turn up on GOG, and I honestly wasn't expecting it to be here for a long time (or possibly not at all).

Never got to finish it as a kid, due to the infamous Sewer Bell glitch, so this is an instabuy for me and it'll be going straight to the top of my list of games to play.
That's what we like! Thank you for a truly interesting addition. This will find a place on my shelf sooner rather than later.
There aren't many videos on youtube, but i found one in german.

Can't say that I've heard of this. Looks interesting.
A long-awaited release! Thank you, GOG!

Will purchase in the future!

gibbeynator: Bummer. Oh, not for the game, the game is probably awesome. I was actually hoping we'd be getting the missing "Quest" games and Leisure Suit Larry today, since we got a DOUBLE Activision release last week.
that was thursday, so hey perhaps this thursday.

Finally!
Now I just need to find a job and I'll buy this.
I'm usually not a big fan of jRPGs, but I do think this one is pretty enjoyable. They did a relatively good job at adapting the console-style jRPG for the PC. Even though I completed neither game, I probably enjoyed this more than, say, Septerra Core (another jRPG-for-PC).
I remember the demo to be quite good, but I never tried the whole game. Maybe I'll buy- but not before the holidays.
I love the new GOG.com!

So far the newer releases have been awesome, and the classics keep coming as well! Alan Wake or Silver, it feels like now I have twice the reasons to be thrilled about any updates from the site. Thanks! =D
Never heard of that game. Graphics look great to me.
By a weird coincidence, today is my birthday, and I've been waiting to get hold of a working copy of this game ever since I traded in my dreamcast so many years ago, so I got this as a birthday treat to myself, thank you GOG!!!!

Totally agree. So far I'm happy how everything's developing although I'd still appreciate even more classic releases.

Yeah, the voice acting seems top notch. Someone mentioned the good quality of the German voiceovers, but after watching this intro and comparing it to the German version (which I own), I think I've found another incentive to buy the English one from GOG. :)
