Europe’s answer to JRPGs

The story of epic conflict of light versus dark and steel versus Silver is available for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Something is wrong in the world: an evil sorcerer has abducted all of the women in it for his own evil and nefarious purposes. You and your grandfather set on a journey to rescue your beloved Jennifer, who has been kidnapped by a lustful wizard named Silver, who’s searching for a new bride and ordered his son to round up all the ladies of the land, which naturally pissed you off, which will result in evil wizard being defeated, which will only be possible after you visit over 200 awe-inspiring locations, meet 50 NPCs and recruit a team of six bravest of the mighty, and mightiest of the brave, which might not sound like an awesome premise for a game, but is in fact a great action RPG, which blends many different elements and delivers wonderfully entertaining swashbuckling goodness. Swish! Kling! Klang! Swoosh! KA-pow!

Silver takes the feeling and looks of the game from jRPG but offers a unique combat system: instead of simply clicking an enemy to attack, you can get into some kind of “battle mode” and thrust, sideswipe, back swing, dodge, and parry. And that’s awesome! The story is linear but makes up for it by being interesting and fast-paced. Graphics? 3D polygonal characters on rendered 2D backdrops similar to Alone in the Dark, but don’t think that the graphics are bad; backgrounds look fantastic, and characters are nicely animated.

Overall, Silver is a great RPG; it does not offer the depth of Baldur’s Gate, but it’s a great time-and-wizard-killer that combines elements action and adventure of Final Fantasy VII, Diablo, and Die by the Sword and delivers wonderful sound, graphics, and interface. Silver is available right now on GOG.com for only $5.99!
I've seen this mentioned on here before, but had never heard of it. It does look pretty good. Wishlisted for now. I'll be sure to grab it when I can.
Well guess I'll stop looking for the Dreamcast version now.
Yep, more Infogrames titles on way :)
This game is amazing!!!

And don't get fooled, it's not an hack'n'slash in the diablo sense, it's much more like "Zelda meets Final Fantasy 7", but better of both.
Yes!
Finally!
Silver!

No more scouring web shops for used copies that aren't horrendously overpriced... and it's a version that actually works in Windows 7 without requiring a ton of obscure patches too!
Awesome!
Instant purchase.

I'm almost tempted to ignore Diablo 3 and play this instead.
What's with this timing :)

So..... is this game some kinda massive sausage-fest or what? :)

No, seriously, I vaguely recall when this came out on the pc - it was quite heavily touted as a FF7-style game for the pc. I played the demo and didn't see it myself, so I never bought it at the time. I shall investigate further :)
Oh my god, SILVER!
I've been waiting so long for a way to get this awesome, awesome game to work on my system. I hope the gog-treatment made it workable in W7. Hot damn, announced and BOUGHT! Not "the best" game by any stretch, but I absolutely adored it and not being able to replay it really, really pained me. Kind of like a forbidden fruit, luring you with its tasty goodness. *licks lips*

Bah, don't be such a prude. Here, have some badly rendered 3D breasts and thighs (see attachment).

Seriously, though: While many women of the realm were kidnapped (in fact, the main character's wife being kidnapped is his motivation for joining the rebels), there are a number of female characters important to the plot, including playable characters.

Very good release. I had good times with David and the gang.
I just disagree with the "JRPG" thing, as people already said it's an action RPG, like a Diablo without the massive clicking fest (you need to draw "slashes" with you mouse to determine your form of attack, the same battle mechanic of Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood).
I didn't get too far playing this game, but it became one of my favourites. This game was one of my requested to see on GOG, others include Albion and Shadow Warrior ;) Similar to Albion, this game is an underrated gem. Seeing this game on GOG was a nice surprise.

Thanks GOG/Atari.

Does that mean...

http://www.gog.com/en/wishlist/games/sheep_dog_n_wolf

We are getting Sheep Dog and Wolf Soon?

Cause that would rock my socks off
Shame it's not as jrpgish storywise - but i'll try it sometime definately for gameplay and graphics.

Zelda you say?

Zelda with lyrics
This looks like a very interesting RPG. Will have to investigate further:)
