Europe’s answer to JRPGs

The story of epic conflict of light versus dark and steel versus Silver is available for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Something is wrong in the world: an evil sorcerer has abducted all of the women in it for his own evil and nefarious purposes. You and your grandfather set on a journey to rescue your beloved Jennifer, who has been kidnapped by a lustful wizard named Silver, who’s searching for a new bride and ordered his son to round up all the ladies of the land, which naturally pissed you off, which will result in evil wizard being defeated, which will only be possible after you visit over 200 awe-inspiring locations, meet 50 NPCs and recruit a team of six bravest of the mighty, and mightiest of the brave, which might not sound like an awesome premise for a game, but is in fact a great action RPG, which blends many different elements and delivers wonderfully entertaining swashbuckling goodness. Swish! Kling! Klang! Swoosh! KA-pow!

Silver takes the feeling and looks of the game from jRPG but offers a unique combat system: instead of simply clicking an enemy to attack, you can get into some kind of “battle mode” and thrust, sideswipe, back swing, dodge, and parry. And that’s awesome! The story is linear but makes up for it by being interesting and fast-paced. Graphics? 3D polygonal characters on rendered 2D backdrops similar to Alone in the Dark, but don’t think that the graphics are bad; backgrounds look fantastic, and characters are nicely animated.

Overall, Silver is a great RPG; it does not offer the depth of Baldur’s Gate, but it’s a great time-and-wizard-killer that combines elements action and adventure of Final Fantasy VII, Diablo, and Die by the Sword and delivers wonderful sound, graphics, and interface. Silver is available right now on GOG.com for only $5.99!
So, is the bell bug fixed?
only a small step to Final Fantasy 7 and 8!!! :))) I can smell it :)))))))
Hell yeah! Finally!
Very cool game, nice addition.
I still have the hard copy of this, never got around to completing it. Trying to find ways to run it for years! I never thought I'd see it on GOG! Awesome!
GoG is just hitting homeruns lately! First Quest for Glory, now Silver? I LOVED that game when I was younger and no one I've met has even heard of it before. This is exciting! Thank you :)
Great release. Maybe now I can finally beat that final boss.

The description is a bit off though. It doesn't have much in common with FF7 or Diablo.

It's actually closer to Zelda than anything else, with the dungeons you need to complete in no particular order to get the orbs that will allow you to fight Silver, the parts of the world that can only be accessed once you have a certain orb, etc...

But it also adds companions, a more complex combat system and some other things that make it a very fun game in my opinion.
I'm always glad when I've never heard of a new release on GOG. It means they still haven't gone dry as far as obscure hidden gems are concerned.

Whether this game is a hidden gem at all is, of course, debatable. One that I may have to decide... during a sale.
WOOT!!!

*does happy dance*

"...all the women..."

ABDUCT ALL THE WOMENS!
Wow! I was so wanting to get this couple of months ago and was looking for everywhere. I can't say how pleased I'm to see this game finally is available in GOG. :D

I used to play this when I was young, and even if it's not really a super good game, in comparision to modern game it still feels like classic nowdays. Ah, the nostalgic feelings...
I have vague memories of this - it was given as the bundled game with one of the issues of a Hungarian PC games magazine.
Anyway, a nice game - while I won't buy it anytime soon, I recall a number of people asked for it here.
