Europe’s answer to JRPGs

The story of epic conflict of light versus dark and steel versus Silver is available for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Something is wrong in the world: an evil sorcerer has abducted all of the women in it for his own evil and nefarious purposes. You and your grandfather set on a journey to rescue your beloved Jennifer, who has been kidnapped by a lustful wizard named Silver, who’s searching for a new bride and ordered his son to round up all the ladies of the land, which naturally pissed you off, which will result in evil wizard being defeated, which will only be possible after you visit over 200 awe-inspiring locations, meet 50 NPCs and recruit a team of six bravest of the mighty, and mightiest of the brave, which might not sound like an awesome premise for a game, but is in fact a great action RPG, which blends many different elements and delivers wonderfully entertaining swashbuckling goodness. Swish! Kling! Klang! Swoosh! KA-pow!

Silver takes the feeling and looks of the game from jRPG but offers a unique combat system: instead of simply clicking an enemy to attack, you can get into some kind of “battle mode” and thrust, sideswipe, back swing, dodge, and parry. And that’s awesome! The story is linear but makes up for it by being interesting and fast-paced. Graphics? 3D polygonal characters on rendered 2D backdrops similar to Alone in the Dark, but don’t think that the graphics are bad; backgrounds look fantastic, and characters are nicely animated.

Overall, Silver is a great RPG; it does not offer the depth of Baldur’s Gate, but it’s a great time-and-wizard-killer that combines elements action and adventure of Final Fantasy VII, Diablo, and Die by the Sword and delivers wonderful sound, graphics, and interface. Silver is available right now on GOG.com for only $5.99!

F4LL0UT: At least it's better than simply reusing the exact same title. Now these titles refer to at least two games:
Syndicate
Wolfenstein
Devil May Cry
Medal of Honor
Prince of Persia
Bionic Commando
Tomb Raider

Not to mention the absurd history of the "Alien vs Predator" franchise which spans several games with an identical title with a few exceptions (where the difference between "Alien" and "Aliens" or "versus" and "vs." determines which game we're talking about). >.<
...add abbreviations into the mix for even more fun:

MW2 (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - 2009)
MW2 (MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat - 1995)

I was surprised why everybody was suddenly being crazy
over MechWarrior 2...

JMich: Think quite a few people will be happy with this one.

F4LL0UT: Don't think so. I bet many GOG users will even prefer Silver over Diablo 3 (at least so do I). Epic game, I'm veeery happy that it's found its way to GOG.
Silver is cheaper .

This is so unreal. I haven't thought about this game in over a decade until a couple of days ago when I somehow remembered it. Looked it up on the community wishlist barely remembering it's name. And now two days later, what game gets added to GOG? Sometimes I think the universe is fucking with me.
Nice release GOG. Thanks

Game 2
Game: Revelations
Game: Redemption
Game: Revenge
Game 3

What about:
Game 1
Game 2
Game: Brotherhood
Game: Revelations
Game 3
? :-)
That was an unexpected release, though one that I was hoping to see here. I've been meaning to play this at some point.
Oh, boy! I played this one when it was released. I remember I bought it, then spend an entire Saturday playing it non-stop until I finished it. Great game, great memories...

itti: yeah right this is really a game i have been waiting for but i forgot it's title until today... :D
Same here. I remember reading a review that got me interested, but I forgot the name and couldn't find it anymore :D great release!
Another game I've never heard of but am interested in playing. Wishlisted for now.
I had good times with this game and my Dreamcast.
M. Bison can't express how much I waited for this.
Never even heard of this one, but I do like JRPG's (sometimes); I'll pick it up when I have a little more money, and my backlog is shorter.
I don't need a hack and slash right now but it'll go to the wishlist.
Well, let me just lose it for a moment:

OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OM G!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG! OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OM G!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!

All done :) I still own the the game in a big box :D I don't even know it that copy would work on a modern PC. But I'll get the GOG version, just in case :D

Amazing release. Thank you!!!

Oh my! That's, I think, the first time since I joined GOG that I exclaimed aloud when I saw today's release. A mix of surprise and excitement.

Just thinking about the city of Rain makes me happy. The ambient music and the constant rain (rain in Rain? Who would have thought!) earned a special place in my memory from the first moment.

Quite good game, mechanically different from the usual, simplistic story but excellent atmosphere. Overall great release.

PS: I don't think that the JPRG comparison is very accurate. Even Diablo is closer to this game than JRPGs Although Silver is much more interesting and damn less boring to play than Diablo.
