Be kind, rewind

Shadwen, a thrilling exercise in silent killing within a bleak medieval environment, is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 15% launch discount.

Time stands still as Shadwen lurks behind a dark corner, wishing that the little girl cowering beside her didn't have to witness the brutal scene that is about to unfold. But maybe she doesn't. Perhaps there is another way to get past these guards, climb on that scaffold, and continue on her mission to assassinate the king. Before you execute any action, time stands still, allowing you to change plans on the spot and even rewind failed attempts. Killing might not be necessary, as long as Shadwen manages to stay hidden or use distractions, thus sparing young Lily the horrible sight of this muffled violent dance.

Put on your soft leather gloves, don your darkness-colored robes, and keep your murders quiet as you become Shadwen, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 15% discount will last until May 24, 1:59 PM UTC.

Venita: Killing people in Shadwen is oddly calming.
Jagged Alliance 2 : thats was very odly and very calming , also very funny
The funniest part was the Queen who shot here aid in his head, Eliiott was his name if i'm correct
Lateron the dude came back after being shot by the Queen, cause he was to dumb to realsie he was a goner, that were very funny scenes, i paid a lot of cash for the games back then, but they were worth every dime.
With most of nowadays games , i dont have that 'click' sometimes they release a new game in old style and the game clicks, it has that old magic that the good old games had.

Today many 'engines' use vectorlike graphics like illustrator which is not bad, but to me it misses that 'magic' touch when i play the old jagged alliance, that is the windows versions cause tbh, the first jagged (dos) was alittle bit to pixel.
Anyway, maybe i been used to playing good classic too much, been playing since my 12 so thats almost 40 years, i have seen lots of games, also lots of ugly games.
Bought it of course as i love the Trine series and somewhat liked Shadowgrounds,i've already played a few levels and built the first gadget,as usual the art design is spot on at least for me,the animations look good and so far no bugs, the game seems pretty fun for now,the atmosphere kinda reminded in a sense of thief with the guards banter(although no drunk guards for now)and some of the sights, the only thing is,i know it's kind of a main feature for the game but i would like to play in real time without having to keep a button pressed, hope they add the possibility to switch to real time completely if someone wants.
high rated

You can play in real time, but they don't tell you about it.

1. Go into Settings, Binds
2. Find Time Toggle (near the bottom)
3. Set a key for a it.

Now you can toggle real time on and off without holding a button.
Wishlisted for now! I loved the demo to tiny little pieces. It's like Thief if Garret was a murderous acrobat.

MikeMaximus:
Thanks for this, was looking for a way to play like that too.
Warning to Linux users: Shadwen launcher doesn't start because it uses deprecated libpng12.so.0:

On Debian at least, as an ugly workaround, you can get libpng12 from Wheezy and put in the game's lib/lib64 directory.

Hm. I didn't pay attention and missed the original Demo event. Seems the demo is now no longer available anywhere for download? If that's really the case it's a rather disappointing decision.
Never mind... I was mistaken

Check your chat, I sent a spare copy of the demo to you if you want to redeem it. :-)
Does anyone know what kind of performance drop could be expected without an Nvidia/Physx card?

I think I could test open source vs proprietary (I'm running Manjaro). I could probably be convinced to get a feel for it in my Windows build to see how much of a hit Linux takes (if any). That being said, I still don't know how much it relies on Physx.

What I will say though, it was incredibly choppy for me with proprietary drivers when I ran it a few minutes ago and i don't recall it being that painful during the demo.

Will also note even the mouse input is choppy but only in-game.

I have mouse lag only in the UI portions (menu, settings and etc.). I reported it here.

Thanks for reporting that. I'm testing out various settings on my machine in Linux right now just to see what helps.
The mouse lag in the UI went away when I used very low detail settings, and got progressively worse as I bumped up the detail level.

Here are the subjective results of my tests (couldn't find an in-game way to measure FPS).

[SYSTEM]
Phenom II X4 945 3.0Ghz
8 GB RAM
Two AMD Radeon 6870s
AMD Driver Ver: 15.201.1151-10
OS: Manjaro 64-Bit w/ Kernel 4.1.24-1

[GAME SETTINGS]
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Window: Automatic
AA: Off
Vert. Sync: Off
Graphics Level: Variable, as listed below

[RESULTS]
Single GPU, "Very High" graphics: High UI lag, game stuttering (guessing around 10 to 15 fps)
Single GPU, "Very Low" graphics: No UI lag, no stuttering
Single GPU, "Med" graphics: Some UI lag, stuttering noticeable, but playable
Crossfire GPUs, "Very High" graphics: very low UI lag, minimal game stuttering.

I feel comfortable playing the game in crossfire with very high thus far. I will probably settle on "high" for larger areas.

Sorry the results aren't more objective, but hopefully it gives someone an idea of what to expect in terms of performance.

EDIT: So many many things... ugh, it's late.
