I just came here for answers and right in the second post, yours, i got the explanation !

i didnt understand why the game that was in the new release was displayed as "owned" for me... Then i looked the price tag and i didnt remember preordering such game for such price tag recently.
I went into my orders and it was showing a higher price tag, but barred and replaced by 0 and the mention "free"

I was very puzzled. First i thought of a preorder i made long ago (and so, at a higher price than the release one... which wouldnt be a first time, frankly, it already haoppened a few times that devs/publishers "thank" their preodering customers with dropping by 30 or 50% the price on official release for new buyers and give a finger to those who supported them ages ago...)

So it's from the devs who made Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, older "heretic kingdoms: inquisition" of course, and recently the initially overpriced yet now reasonable "Vikings: wolves of midgard" (the price tag was solely the responsability of a different greedy publisher though).

Kind of generous from them to provide their newest installment of the Heretic kingdoms franchise for free while it's just newly released. Thanx to them.

And thanx to you for avoiding me wondering and scratching my head in vain

takezodunmer2005: Really pisses me off that I'm the only one that cannot fuckin' save in this game! This is the only game that I have an issue with! Tried nearly everything.
Are you using Galaxy? Where have you got the game installed? Which OS?
This looks very promising. Sadly it did not get a Linux version.

Did you reinstall the game through offline backup installer? Sometimes Galaxy can corrupt the install, or not install the game correct. If you dont use Galaxy then I'm not sure whats wrong.
awesome

thanks devs for keeping the promise!
thanks for the freebie! :o)
test comment, please ignore

Cavalary: Is this basically an updated Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, with (some of) what should have been Book 2 added in, or a separate game set after HK? As in, would there be a point in playing both?
Well; :it's a BIG update then :P -> the game includes the second part which was originaly planned in the former title, and some others improvments.

So it' seems natural to me, to get the new release for free since the original title wasn't finished (well i know some devs / publshers who certainly have charged customers :s).

To be short iirc :

Shadows ; Heretic Kingdoms was the part 1
Shadows : Awekening is part 1 + 2

Thanks for the response, yes I'm using galaxy, and I've installed it in custom directories, yet it will not allow me to install in the program files, My os is Win 10 pro... Hell, I even tried logging into my admin account, enabled sharing, and security edits with the user/program folders!

I'll try that; I admit that I hadn't thought about doing that! Thanks!

EDIT Re-installed via program files(x86) and still no dice, I'm shelving this until the devs patch it; I raised the issue via steam as they're aware of this unique situation, none of my 1k+ games has this issue...

Don't install the offline backup installers in Program Files (x86 or otherwise) - install to the C: partition, for example C:|GOGGames. That alone usually solves a myriad of problems.

Ok, I'll give it a go!

EDIT: Fuck it; I'm done... it's a lost cause, thanks again, but it won't even do a cloud save!

I believe your issue is the following :

Installing the gamei in the x86 folder won't work, because the game is 64 bits only. This directory is used for 32 bits apps.

Besude, as pointed out, that 's not a good idea to use a system directory for your games (i never did it & will never do it)... if you don't have another disk / oartiton use the example given abovr my post (you don't need to use the same name for th directpry. Try this, i don't have any other idea.

PS ! check the game card, for the system requirements.

Is this then the so called book 2? When i first saw the game on steam i thought it was a side title.
But when i went to my library here i saw it was added there for free, because i already own Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms or actually fully Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms book 1: the devourer of souls.
I only wonder if you get here on gog the same as steam users or that the steam version has extra things.
