GOG Digital Premieres - Call of Cthulhu Adventures

Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice, a mind-bending duo of Call of Cthulhu adventure classics, premiere digitally right now - DRM-free on GOG.com.

An original horror-adventure duo from Infogrames, (the company well known for their Alone in the Dark series) Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice are two of the very few games that get to boast actually taking place within the Call of Cthulhu mythos. With a pedigree like that, you can be sure that you're getting the best of the atmosphere and uncomfortable flavor of a true H.P. Lovecraft story.

Shadow of the Comet (Win + Linux) is the tale of a young British photographer out to capture a one-of-a-kind comet passing over an isolated New England town of Illsmouth. He discovers that the last person to attempt this spent the rest of his life in a high-security lunatic asylum. Soon, he'll also discover why… In Prisoner of Ice (Win + Mac + Linux) an indirect sequel to Shadow of the Comet, you're just another officer aboard the HMS Victoria - a military sub returning from a simple extraction operation. Just another run of the mill job, the target is safe and you're counting down the time till your shore leave. Little do you know, it's also a matter of time until you look straight in the eye of an ancient evil aboard.

Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice are terrifying 2D adventure games that received critical acclaim for successfully capturing the unique atmosphere of tales like "At the Mountains of Madness", "The Dunwich Horror", "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" and, of course, "The Call of Cthulhu". Whether you're a Lovecraft fan, or just searching for the right excuse to discover the legend - these are stories you have to experience.

Heed the call of Cthulhu in Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice, available now - DRM-free on GOG.com!
Yay I have prisoner of ice on CD, one more physical copy I get to retire and move into my digital collection.

Actually prisoner of ice is one of the few games I've finished must have had more time back then.

I don't remember it looking as good as the screenshots, then again I don't really remember much about the plot now so i guess I'm free to buy it again and it will feel "fresh" ish?

--- edit ---
I don't think I ran into any game breaking bugs at the time or dead ends, but I think I did have to resort to a few help files to get through it.

Yes! Finally, Lovecraft games on GoG! Now all we need is Dark Corners of the Earth! Ia Dagon! Ia Hydra! Cthulhu ftagn!
Oh my Gog! Now these are some pretty amazing releases, exactly the reason why I joined up with Gog!!! Thank you Gog for bringing both of these here! Will buy them as soon as my next paycheck arrives.
I love a bit of Lovecraft but I never got to play these back in the day. Do they have dead ends? I hate P&C games with dead ends.
Visiting the GOG homepage was a very pleasant sight today, looking right upon Shadow of the Comet.
But I really got a time problem with the holidays ending soon, hopefully I will manage to set up a better time schedule one day ._.
I tried listening to a H.P. Lovecraft radio play twice but it always managed to teleport me right into dreamland, unfortunately the more mundane one. ( I'm not exactly the right person for radio plays? it seems)
Probably playing the games would be more effective, so thanks for the release :)
But yeah I'm wondering, too, there surely are dead ends, aren't there?

cose_vecchie: It's good to see "Prisoner of Ice" here as well. Now it would be great if GOG also released "Dark Corners of the Earth" (in an updated, fully working version for newer operating systems, with bugs and glitches fixed) but we know that's not going to be easy...
I agree, GOG really needs to get Dark Corners of the Earth!
Does the GOG version of Shadow of The Comet include the Lovecraft Museum? It's a tour in a museum filled with objects from the Lovecraft novels, done with the same engine as the game itself. That is included at least on my original CD copy of the game.
Amazing release!Thx GOG!
