GOG Digital Premieres - Call of Cthulhu Adventures

Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice, a mind-bending duo of Call of Cthulhu adventure classics, premiere digitally right now - DRM-free on GOG.com.

An original horror-adventure duo from Infogrames, (the company well known for their Alone in the Dark series) Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice are two of the very few games that get to boast actually taking place within the Call of Cthulhu mythos. With a pedigree like that, you can be sure that you're getting the best of the atmosphere and uncomfortable flavor of a true H.P. Lovecraft story.

Shadow of the Comet (Win + Linux) is the tale of a young British photographer out to capture a one-of-a-kind comet passing over an isolated New England town of Illsmouth. He discovers that the last person to attempt this spent the rest of his life in a high-security lunatic asylum. Soon, he'll also discover why… In Prisoner of Ice (Win + Mac + Linux) an indirect sequel to Shadow of the Comet, you're just another officer aboard the HMS Victoria - a military sub returning from a simple extraction operation. Just another run of the mill job, the target is safe and you're counting down the time till your shore leave. Little do you know, it's also a matter of time until you look straight in the eye of an ancient evil aboard.

Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice are terrifying 2D adventure games that received critical acclaim for successfully capturing the unique atmosphere of tales like "At the Mountains of Madness", "The Dunwich Horror", "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" and, of course, "The Call of Cthulhu". Whether you're a Lovecraft fan, or just searching for the right excuse to discover the legend - these are stories you have to experience.

Heed the call of Cthulhu in Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice, available now - DRM-free on GOG.com!

Silverhawk170485: No Mac Version of Shadow of the Comet?
Sorry but we can't offer one due to legal reasons beyond our control :(
Yes Yes YES.
Amazing releases!
Nice, I wanted to play Shadow of the Comet for a while and didn't even know about Prisoner of Ice.
More classic point n click adventures are always welcome! :) Never played these, now's my chance:)
Thanks GOG!
No series discount?
Wasn't that a thing for a while?
More point n click adventures. Neat. :)
We have 2 more classic games from Atari. Awesome GOG!
Insta-buy for me!

Shadow of the Comet is, in my opinion, the game that best captured H. P. Lovecrafts stories.

Licurg: How is Prisoner of Ice ? I never played that one .
It's good. Rather short (thirty screens or so from memory, no backtracking between locations), rather easy (quite straightforward puzzles with a couple exceptions ; you can die, but the game autosaves before deadly situations), no dead-ends, two buttons interface (look/interact).
Very good atmosphere : they nailed something half-way between the all-out pulp "let's machinegun Cthulhu down" of Arkham Horror and the actual Lovecraft material. And nazis, always a plus.

Try Anchorhead if you're not cosmically repulsed by text adventures, it's up to par.

Pure Awesomeness, thank you GOG.
The real horror in Prisoner of Ice is its French voice acting. It's included in Gog's version, so get it... if you dare!

CharlesGrey: I hope we'll get Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth eventually. Arguably one of the best Lovecraft themed games ever created, and a true classic of the Horror genre. ( Aside from the bugs, that is. No idea if those were ever fixed. )
I think the rights are at Bethesda which are in bed with Steam... *barf*. A pity because DCotE is one of the best horror games there are imho, and it is certainly one of the best Lovecraft games.

Anyway, there is an unofficial patch with build-in cheats for the game, or at least there was when I played it years ago. You might wanna check up on that.
I haven't play them back then but I will get them sooner or later and then I will try...
