Humor, Hotties, Hijinks, and a Handsome Hero.

Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle, a sequel to point-and-click jewel Runaway: a Road Adventure, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

This GOG-summer has been gracious to adventure fans: Torin’s Passage, Blackwell Bundle, Resonance coming next week, something unexpected in two weeks, and now Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle, the second part of series that mixes modern execution with old-school point-and-click adventuring.

Brian Brasco, a not-so-nerdy doctoral candidate in Physics at Berkeley, goes with his full-bosomed broad Gina Timmins, whom he saved in the first part of the game, to a well-deserved vacation in Hawaii. Things go from holiday-lazy to exotic-crazy when their plane crashes and Brian needs to set on a journey to once again find his missus.

Publisher describes Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle as “too weirdly entertaining for words in this title” and he’s not far from the truth. Gripping story, challenging puzzles, lovable characters make up for a highly enjoyable little point-and-click gem. Wonderful visuals, which combine 2D backgrounds and 3D 'shapes', will probably appeal more to male audience, but the amazing rest will appeal to all adventure-lovers, especially since Runaway 2 is now available DRM-free on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Wait for another release later today ;).

Zeewolf: This game has the most unlikeable main character in the history of gaming.
Still, less annoying than the guy from The Whispered World.

lugum: simon 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr_7kBQveXk

simon 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sgMQAbSVRI well seems it has a english release

everlight of magic and power http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyaI2pxFHrA also has an english release
Oh you were talking about the Simon series! (I thought you were talking about runaway series). Even so though, I still did not know that the Simon series had five titles. I only knew about the ones here on GOG (which I've messed about with and enjoyed, even if I've never fully played) I honestly had never heard of those titles though until I found this website. Thanks for the info :)

it's different. isn't that why most people play more than one game of the same kind? dozens, hundreds even? chances are one game will always be better than the others. doesn't mean you should ignore everything else.

but suit yourself.

Well, not my cup of tea, but there may be people around here who wanted it.

Well, they're German for starters and made by completely different people. Simon 4 is average, but not without it's moments. Simon 5 is quite silly in a bad way (oh, and the way they trolled the players with the promise of nonlinear puzzles solutions), although at least tries to permanently finish the story. Everlight, unrelated to Simon series, looks and feels like a game made out of things cut from Simon 4 (locations, art, puzzles).

I wouldn't necessarily say Blackwell is better than Runaway, but different strokes and all that. Machinarium's a different beast altogether.

In any case, adventure games suffer from having next to no replayability if they don't have a good story. There's no compelling reason why you can't play Blackwell and then go on to the Runaway games.
The thing I remember most vividly about Dream of the Turtle when I played it first time around was that it didn't end well - I finished the game and was like "Wait, why are the credits rolling? Where's the rest of the game??"..... it was years before the third one came out and I got to carry on the story :P

Still, as an adventure game in it's own right, I enjoyed it.

Also, that 'coming in two weeks' thing that they teased? I'm guessing it'll be 'So Blonde' :D

Well, they did say it would be 'unexpected' :)

I actually bought 'So Blonde' when it first came out. Wouldn't install at all, buggy as hell. Looking back, I probably saved myself a lot of grief by just sticking it on the shelf and giving up on it :P

Correction: This site used to be called Good Old Games. Not anymore. See this announcement.

I don't see any problem with that, adult people are supposedly able to decide for themselves what is and what isn't good.

Also, "good" is in the eye of the beholder.
