Humor, Hotties, Hijinks, and a Handsome Hero.

Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle, a sequel to point-and-click jewel Runaway: a Road Adventure, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

This GOG-summer has been gracious to adventure fans: Torin’s Passage, Blackwell Bundle, Resonance coming next week, something unexpected in two weeks, and now Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle, the second part of series that mixes modern execution with old-school point-and-click adventuring.

Brian Brasco, a not-so-nerdy doctoral candidate in Physics at Berkeley, goes with his full-bosomed broad Gina Timmins, whom he saved in the first part of the game, to a well-deserved vacation in Hawaii. Things go from holiday-lazy to exotic-crazy when their plane crashes and Brian needs to set on a journey to once again find his missus.

Publisher describes Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle as “too weirdly entertaining for words in this title” and he’s not far from the truth. Gripping story, challenging puzzles, lovable characters make up for a highly enjoyable little point-and-click gem. Wonderful visuals, which combine 2D backgrounds and 3D 'shapes', will probably appeal more to male audience, but the amazing rest will appeal to all adventure-lovers, especially since Runaway 2 is now available DRM-free on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Wait for another release later today ;).

Zeewolf: This game has the most unlikeable main character in the history of gaming.

Plus, the puzzles are dreadful, which is a bit of a problem when the game piles them up so high that even the most inane task takes about five illogical puzzles to complete.

Licurg: Simon, from the "Simon the Sorceror" series is kind of annoying too, but they're still good games, aren't they?
Well... the first two are ;)

However those games actually have their funny moments... Runaway 2's jokes are mostly...cringeworthy

keeveek: But the babe...

Zeewolf: ... is gone for most of the game. :p
... but there's another one ;p
I got the first game for free, installed it, played about 15 minutes and had to give it away... I don't know, I'm a big fan of adventure games and this one looked really nice, but the atmosphere was just... non-existant at the beginning (and life's too short to play games that don't immediatelly grab me :o)

and since the second part is much worse... not for me :)

but hey, cool trend of adventuring for gamers here, I really look forward to the Resonance!

Looking forward to the unexpected suprise in two weeks. Maybe "Yesterday" from Pendulo?
Indeed GOG's latest releases are great for adventure fans!

lugum: they are very good games even the lesesr known parts 4 and 5.
Is the 5th one available in English yet? And how does it compare to the 4th one?

I'll be honest, I really didn't like StS4... I found it quite boring. Looking back on it, I think I might have had more fun with the buggy and ugly Simon 3D than I did with 4.
Part of me was hoping for a new EA release. ;)

Yeah, the floozie that Brian goes to bed with while his real girlfriend is in mortal danger. As I said, he's not easy to like.
They say they're gonna have another release today. I hope us Hack'n Slash RPG fans get something... Throne of Darkness, Prince of Qin, anything...
Even thought I am an point click adventure game fan and even though I actually enjoyed their recent games (i.e. Yesterday and the Next Big thing), I always had a lot of trouble enjoying Runaway (only played the first one).

From the (IMO) unlikeable main characters to the contextual pixel hunting, I never finished it. (The french dub didn't help either), anyway will probably try this one sooner or later.

I agree. I cannot stand the main character!
I always wanted to try it out when it first got released but never got the chance to.
Wishlisted for sure.

Though it's not free (but quite reasonable anyway), there is something feeling like Christmas every release day on GOG. It's a very friendly concept you've got there.
I know what you mean. I've never, in my whole life, been so excited to constantly be given ways to drain my wallet.

Wait. This game is a series of five? You learn something new every day. Until this morning I didn't even know it had a *second* part, much less a fourth or a fifth.

Most disappointng sequal. I still haven't played the game through as I didn't like the writing and the main character felt like a total jack ass.
