Four heroes, one mysterious weapon, and dozens of puzzles tie together in this game where saving the world rests in your hands.

Resonance, an atmospheric sci-fi adventure with a retro feel, is available now on GOG.com for $9.99.

Resonance has been available for pre-orders for quite some time already along with a playable preview, and from the comments in the subforum (and the number of preorders!) it seems that a lot of people were anxiously waiting for its release. The creation from Wadjet Eye and Xii Games is finally available and it’s a title bound to thrill adventure fans.

Resonance has it all: great story, difficult puzzles, fantastic retro graphics, and a unique long-term and short-term memory system where the player “collects” memories and uses them to solve puzzles or start conversations. The game’s story, music, and graphics all combine to give you a techno-thriller feel; the spooky atmosphere, the emotions of characters, and the high stakes of the story all make this an unforgettable experience.

Challenging, captivating, believable point-and-click for $9.99--get Resonance now on GOG.com desktop wallpapers, avatars, a digital poster (suitable for printing), the game’s MP3 soundtrack, and video developer diaries.

**Note for pre-orders**
Any save from the playable preview or demo will not work with the full version.
You can either re-play the game (recommended!) and maybe mix things up a little ;) or use this save with instructions instead.

deonast: Well I pre-ordered it so I'll download it when I have a chance, I have 5 games now waiting for me to download and less time than ever. If I get a job I'm applying for I'll always have less time and more money to buy games to sit on the digital shelf.

Always seems to be the same paradox you see with people over and over, got money and your time poor so you can't enjoy the fruits of your work. Got time you've got no money to invest in things to fill your time.
I´d rather go for the first version (got money, but no time to use them :) ).
So many great games to play... I can't keep up, guys! :P
never really got into the adventure genre in PC or anywhere else but what type of games are they? I mean are they like the Professor Layton Series in the DS?
I haven't played Professor Layton, but from reviews it sounds kind of the same.

Adventure games are usually really story or character focused, and the game consists of guiding your character through the world to find clues that you can use to solve puzzles or get people to tell you information and unlock new areas. The ones I've played basically didn't have combat. I like them sometimes, but they aren't everyone's cup of tea.

They're a lot like interactive books.

From what i see in the trailers of PL, the closes thing to that are the Nancy Drew series.

woah pl and nancy drew? both are way different games.
the first is a puzzle game.

i would even say nancy drew games are a genre of it's own. while they might be adventure games they aren't anything like the lucasarts games or sierra's quests.

and hate the fact such a mediocre game can have that many sequels.

Well, the trailers of PL i've seen showed only the puzzles, so i assumed the PL games are puzzle oriented adventure games.

Of course they are nothing like Sierra/LA games. Though, neither is Resonance in my opinion. While You have an inventory, all Your actions are restricted to a specific goal given, like "impersonate a repairman", and You can't do anything else. It's very linear and closed in it's nature, very much like Samorost [though, with an inventory].
Don't know if there's anything i can relate Resonance to, really. Perhaps Machinarium, but i haven't played that one.

professor layton doesn't work with an inventory either , you can walk and when you click on things you always get a puzzle, and they contain like 170 puzzles per game.

resonance is best compared with the blackwell bundle i guess :P
and yeah it's a bit linear but still worth playing though.

So it's like a story based puzzle game? SO yeah, it's not really like ND.;)

One day i'll risk it, though i kinda dislike the path adventure games took [both today, and 15 years ago].

Thanks for enlightening me!:)

yeah its a story based puzzle game ;) and a very good series too if you just likepuzzle solveing.

not all adventure games are bad these days ;) daedelic entertainment (edna and harvey, whispered world, new beginning, dark eye chains of satinav, whispered world) , pendulo studio (runaway, next big thing, yesterday) and unwritten tales 1&2.

and with the kickstarter a new jane jensen game, new tex murphy game and a new "space quest".

I won't be investing in a handheld though. ;)

I'll have to check them out one day [yeah, i've only heard about a few of them], i'm completely out of the loop with newer titles.
Also, very excited about the current KS projects, hopefully they'll all deliver.;)

there are always roms cough ;) ds is a nice thingie though. though alot (and i mean alot) are kiddie games and especially, train your pet sort of games.
i am very curious about the 3ds, still never seen it.

and they better deliver so they can bring us even more sequels to them ;)
wouldn't it be great if you had a spare $10000 and actually see yourself in some sort of form back in the game?
companies that seemed so out of reach for the average joe and now they even offer to have lunch with you, if donated enough.
Well I love Professor Layton and what lured me in are the puzzles.

If I am willing to give adventure genre a shot. Give me one game that you could say would change my mind and would make me wanna play adventure games?

Was gonna dive into that puzzle agents something but they say its not that good despite the professor layton-like puzzles.

I just went through and beat this over the weekend.

As a long-time fan of adventure games (going back to Sierra and LucasArts' heydays), I HIGHLY recommend this. It's got a really engaging plot, some interesting characters, and some of the best game mechanics in an adventure game I've ever seen. In fact, it's got some really clever uses of the genre that I'd never seen before.

Definitely check this out if and when you get the chance.
