Kittens shouldn't have to bend this way.

Rain World, an idiosyncratic 16-bit adventure/platformer following a lone slugcat's fight for survival, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount!

Cats don't like water. Slugcats are no different: if they are to survive this post-apocalyptic world overflowing with water and dangerous creatures, they must rely on stealth, quick reflexes, and a deep understanding of their hazardous environment.

The 20% discount will last until April 4, 1 PM UTC.

Really the most gorgeous shitty graphic I have seen in a long time!

muntdefems: I just realized there's no video in this game's card here on GOG, and this is a game you've got to see in movement to fully appreciate it, so here you go:

thanks for that, without it I thought the game looked quite ... er.. cheap. but you are right, the movement adds so much to the gameplay, very sinuous cat style
OK, I got it running on Wine. Seems to work fine, except for that annoying Unity bug which 100%s one of your cores all the time.

Oh, and for some strange reason the available resolutions are 1024x768, 1280x768, 1360x768, and 1366x768 (see attached screenshot). WTF?

Thanks for this. Definitely waiting for the Linux version, but it's always great to see Wine doin' it's thang.
i dig the look of this game.
This looks like it could be really cool, but it also looks like it could just be frustrating and bad. I'll have to look into it more before deciding to gamble $16 on it.

EDIT: After seeing some of the negative reviews on Steam, I'm definitely going to pass on this for now. Maybe when it's $5.

I'm interested, but I'll probably wait to see if some of the current critiques of the game will be addressed.

It's not a bug. It's a feature! =P

Why do you even waste your time writing such an empty message?

Is there something wrong with commenting about a game release in the game's release thread?

Definitely, there is something wrong, that in the topic of the game, readers have to read such useless messages.

Because trying to make an informed purchase decision is a bad thing? Makes sense. *rolls eyes*

There is a significant difference between doing something and telling others how you are doing something.
You did the second. And here is not Instagram.
Super Slugcat Boy?

I'm not sure how they'll survive it, honestly.

EDIT: In all seriousness, the whole point of a release thread is to comment on the release and give feedback in some way. I was sharing my opinion that the game looks appealing, but I was uncertain about it because it seemed like the kind of game that could also be very frustrating. The negative Steam reviews indicate that the game can be frustrating, so I'm holding off because I don't think the current asking price is low enough to take the risk on.
