I sent a message to support, but I might as well as anyway.

When playing the game (even with admin privileges on, Windows 7 64 bit) the sound will randomly stop, and finishing a stage (or trying to go back to the main menu) the game just crashes. So far this has been my only issue with the game (well, there's the lack of resolution options, but that's not a complete deal breaker for me), and I've been having a blast playing it (at least before the sound cuts out). Any ideas on how to resolve it?

Zoidberg: Same time as on Steam, cool. And waaaaaay cheaper too. :D

Question though, can we play it in 9/16 mode? I mean, I can turn my monitor sideways, could I launch the game so it's turned too?

JudasIscariot: Yes, it's in the in-game options known as Rotate A or Rotate B :)
In fullscreen then?

But I have a problem: screen is black in fullscreen... :/

IAmSinistar: Woo, another surprise release (i.e., not on Tuesday or Thursday). That's some sleek shooty action in those screenies!
Not my cup of tea, but is flat priced and comes with a soundtrack. :-)

Good points! Two more things done right with this release.
Excellent game! Excellent release!
Anyone managed to run it in fullscreen with a dual monitor setup?
Hey, a flat priced game! unbelievable! :P
Jokes aside (GOG, you know that despite everything I don't blame you), I should really try a game in this genere, one of this days. Somehow, I never played one! It's not like they don't appeal to me or I avoided them for some reason: I simply kept on missing them by chance. Weird, now that I think about it!
Great release! Wishlisted. I love the vertical scrollers. Always preferred them to the horizontal ones.
It seems like GOG has changed their mind about arcade games. Very happy about that and I hope we'll see more of them in the future.

In any case, this is a fantastic release. I'm terrible at schmups, but this game looks fun and has an incredible soundtrack. Wishlisted, though I might actually buy it very soon.
7%! Be still, my beating heart.
Nice!!
Looks pretty cool! How does Raiden III compare to Raiden Legacy?

I'd say the best game available on PC in the genre right now is Crimzon Clover World Ignition (hell, I think there's an argument that it's the best modern shmup period, as it certainly holds its own with anything from Cave), but it's currently Steam-only. Raiden III is very solid, and a good starter game, so you wouldn't go wrong by getting this one either.

Normally I'd point you to the Raiden Fighters games instead, which are available here as Raiden Legacy, but that port is abysmal so... yeah, stick with this one, or Crimzon Clover if you're willing to go to Steam (and if you're willing to go with Steam, Ikaruga is a solid option as well). If you've got consoles, of course, you've got WAY more options.

The game itself isn't quite as good, but the port is far better because it's playable with a controller or joystick from launch to exit (Legacy requires a mouse for the menus, which is just madness for a genre that's traditionally played with an arcade joystick), and because it doesn't suffer from emulation glitches, slowdown or frame-skipping. It's a port, not emulation, and so it works far better. I love the Raiden Fighters games, but Raiden Legacy is an unfortunate mess.

That said, it's limited to 640x480 in fullscreen because it's a rather old port that just happened to get a world-wide re-release. That's the one downside. If you can overlook that, it's great.
