eiii: Does that mean killing the game prevents it from saving so that you can restart it and being before the bad RNG event? How quickly do you have to kill it to make that work?
Yes, theres also some kind of "abandon" option - not sure if that deletes your save though.

I really can't recall, but i think theres no combat either so that helps. I THINK its a case of quitting before hitting the "okay / continue" option on the popup.

I have redownloaded and fired it up and theres definately an easy mode.

I think the main RNG pain i found in playing was accidentally dismantling the wrong thing on the ship screen as there was no way around that (ie alt+f4).

On the whole though you shouldn't find it too punishing, but my memory is pretty fuzzy on it.

retrorealms: The game + soundtrack combo is also on sale and slightly cheaper than buying the two separately, as I did through this announcement ;)

eiii: Good catch, thanks! Are all 3 catalog entries marked as owned in your library now?
(love these "copyX" game card entries... GOG quality, their internal shop interface must be fun ;P)
No, the standalone game and the combo are treated as different titles. While I own the game and the soundtrack, the combo is not marked as owned - and this is far from the only game here on GOG where that's the case, unfortunately...
Does the game allow the user to save at the end of a level?

nope. it autosaves.

At least buying the combo (copy3) marks the game and the soundtrack as owned. This didn't work with some other games before -.-

I've read that the character learns alien languages in the game. Is this carried over from one run to the next? Or does the character have to relearn everything in every run?

really cant remember that.

i THINK it was remembered but cant be sure (no saves to check from).
I own the mobile version.
You fly from one planet to the next, scanning for resources, land (or not).
If you're lucky, you find something which you need - I'm mostly not lucky.
For me, the game always ends when I run out of resources, and die.
And if you find something? The storage capacity of your ship isn't big enough to collect it (all).
Aliens that you encounter, always place something on the ground and run away.
Wether what they place on the ground is good or bad? Only one way to find out.
Usually I die.
Apparently this is no game for me. :)

If it plays like the original mobile or original desktop version, then no; once you die, you start over from scratch.

Yeah, in my experience with the game (albeit the original release prior to the Omega Edition), the game relies way too much on RNG, much like FTL. You could be doing really well with plenty of resources, only to find yourself at a dead end because you either (a) tried to be a little too daring and explore a planet for fuel and resources, resulting in your ship sustaining massive damage, or (b) were a little too careful with planet exploration and ended up dying from lack of resources. Or something else might happen out of nowhere leaving you completely screwed.

This is why I ended up simply giving up on it after a few days of play.

Why it sounds like the developer amping up the artificial difficulty just to make it felt like another way too hard roguelike games? I think because of limited gameplay means it's just random choices with 80% bullshit outcomes.

Hell, Seedship mobile game is much better than this, and it's a text based game!

Quite frankly, Seedship is awesome. It's the only game that i have on my phone. https://johnayliff.itch.io/seedship
Is the Linux version broken, like it is for the Humble Bundle one?

Click-and-drag does not work when using a mouse, denying the ability to finish the game tutorial. I’ve never read anything anywhere about the devs fixing this issue.

Last game version I tried is 2.4, if there has been further updates I missed these.

I know, that's why I was asking.

GOG, consistently inconsistent as usual. And they also bother me with the Valhalla Hills Upgrade on every sale.

Glad someone enjoy this little gem. It was so good the endings actually gave me excellent ideas for writing fantasy and sci fi worlds.
