Coming of Age.

Myst III: Exile and Myst IV: Revelation are now available DRM-free, only on GOG.com.
The saga is now complete so check out our Myst Sale with the rest of the series -now fine-tuned for improved Win10 stability, among other things- going for up to -65% off until July 8, 10pm UTC. Goshdarn classics, the lot of them.

Myst III: Exile takes place 10 years after Riven, when an enigmatic man breaks into Atrus' study and steals the Releeshahn book as part of his plan to exact revenge upon the wise explorer's sons.

The final showdown between Atrus and his malicious sons takes center stage in Myst IV: Revelation. We must once again travel to wondrous worlds and conquer brain-twisting puzzles in pursuit of Atrus' scheming offspring. As in the rest of the series, our choices will dramatically change the final outcome of this battle of wits.
Kinda wish Real Myst Masterpiece Edition was available through Connect for the duration of this sale. The price is about the same I paid for the game through the Humble Store a few years ago and paying the same amount again just for another DRM-free copy just seems a bit odd right now.

~$30USD for Exile and Revelation together is a little steep, though I fully understand why they're priced like that (time spent getting them to work on modern OSes, the split between rights holders, etc). Considering the markups through the years of CIB copies of the two, it's certainly a deal.

Although my impulse says "buy 'em now!" my sanity says "wait it out, even if it's only 10% discounts for each". Still, great to see them being made available digitally after years of wait.

Glad they are released. Same as others have said, the price is a bit steep for me. I am for sure a buyer when they are cheaper on sale. I have so many games now I have yet to play, I can wait. I don't blame people for paying up now though if they are ready to play them.

gibbeynator: 20 bucks for a game that's almost 20 years old, with absolutely no launch discount and superior versions coming out later this year? Are you high or something?

LuigiHann: There's no superior version coming later, the GoG versions are the ones included in the 25th anniversary collection. They might update them more, but any updates will be available to GoG customers and collection backers alike.

I'm sure they'll go on sale eventually, but I suspect 3 and 4 are full price now to avoid totally upsetting the people who purchased the collection through Kickstarter. Would be a bit sad if the non-backers got a substantially better deal than the backers at this early stage.
I still wonder what 3 million dollar of that campaign are for, as most of the games were already available and the missing one got released in a couple of month. Still lack full support for linux and mac and they'll probably add some languages and compatibility but I don't think that would require so much money even taking into account the physical edition.

About backers, they will be upset for not being able to redeem their games before the general public, which is often an issue with kickstarter. They should allow that. And release on Steam immediately too so the one that backed for that version can get the games too. It's not like they have to provides different releases.

About the price, the digital collection tier on the campaign was 49$. If you purchase all the games without discount you would pay $79,99. That's because the later games are overpriced, but still you would have got a better deal being a backer. If you purchase now with the discount you would pay about 49$, that would be a bit unfair for the backers.
Erm... I guess I'll wait for a better regional pricing elsewhere.

ShaunRoberts: Wait a minute... Myst revs' store page says it is 15 gigs big, can someone confirm this please?
There are 2 English versions.

One is about 6,5 GIGs, one is about 9,0 GIGs. There are no details which version has which features/extras... oO

German, Spanish etc. versions are only 6,5 GIGs big.

The 6.5GB version is about the size of the original DVD release of the game.

Crosmando: Yeah, Revelation apparently had a very high budget for the time, Ubisoft poured millions into the project for pre-rendered environments and actors ($100,000 on the soundtrack alone) and it shows. Makes me wonder how Cyan managed to get the rights to it.
Despite all that money it's riddled with rendering errors, particularly in the transitions between FMV and still scenes. I'm talking "Hey, that rock just vanished before my eyes!" moments and there are quite a few of them.

My theory is that the team at Ubi were incredibly inexperienced at working with pre-rendered graphics and forgot to re-render some of the assets when the master model changed. I don't remember Myst III having the same sort of problems, but then Presto were old hands by that point having made 4 Journeyman Project games.

Many thanks. I don't get why it doesn't specifies both filesizes nor why it doesn't point out there are two copies. this is similar to wasteland 2 on steam which says its a 30g game but is just two versions that ADD up to that

No problem. With "Wasteland 2" I get that (one is the old version, one is the Director's Cut).

But here? Is there an (until now) unknown ENHANCED version of the game? It seems to be english only and features aprox. 2,5 GIGs more pure compressed data. Most of it could/should be graphics / better resolution if I had to guess...
Awesome. I've got these wishlisted for now.

You realise the campaign wasn't for 3 million dollars, right? They asked for $247,500, mainly to make the manufacture of the more expensive physical tiers plausible. The fact that they got nearly $3m is simply testament to the popularity of the series and the items they were offering.
