I gotta say, this game looks pretty awesome. It hits all of the high points for me -- non-stop action, aliens, super powers, and destructible environments. It's too bad my computer isn't up to par right now, but I'll buy once I upgrade to a more suitable desktop.

Oh! And for anyone interested, I also curate a GOGmix dedicated to the subject of Grey Aliens, Close Encounters, and UFOs.

takezodunmer2005: Looks great, but it's yet another developer that hates key rebinds, as there's no way to change them, and it only lists the stupid controller's keys instead! -3 stars for that alone! (I'm not certain if I have to unplug it in order to get the Keyboard prompts though, as I don't want to restart my PC just to get my stinking controller back on player one!)

It's 2017! WHERE'S THE RE-BINDABLE KEYS!?

That is one of my main deal-breakers for FP games as controllers SUCK for precision shooting, and I am a horrible typist so the SHIFT/Ctrl/Alt is too awkward a stretch as too many idiot developers assume everyone on the planet uses that idiotic combo!

Q/W/E/Space = Sprint/Forward/Jump/Use is a whole lot easier on your carpals than SHIFT/W/SPACE/E especially for using Alt/Ctrl/Shift for reactionary controls, which is why it's infuriating when developers cluelessly and lazily neglect to include re-binds even in the stinking config files!

I will be back after a bit to give more info when I end up playing a bit, though I have to start back in the intro again because SURPRISE there's no manual save in a stinking open-world game!...But I am willing to put that aside for now so I can give you guys a better look on the actual gameplay!

Oh yeah, it seems I have to start the game via the folder as galaxy uses the start launcher that is an elevated process so my game crashes while using it!

================================ EDIT First Impressions: ================================

It's really incredible how you can zoom from out in space to pin-point cities, and when the buildings crash there's amazing details of first responders, the screams and of people running along with seeing them scatter, and cars speeding away!

Unfortunately most of the game relies on precision in both flight and it's shooting the small red targets on the aliens so being stuck with a controller makes the gameplay suffer a LOT as trying to steer with the Right stick and aim while shooting fast moving targets is crap, plus you move too fast that you end up getting disoriented as you're too damn close to even hit them, so you have to swing around to even find them!

Unless they patch in rebindable keys then I'll just shelve this game as it is unplayable for me, as the keyboard/mouse is far superior for this type of genre, however, if this was top-down/isometric 3rd person like Hob, then this would work well with a controller...

I made the mistake of being too damn hasty with this game though, as the first thing I look for with FPGames are rebindable keys, and then denuvo, but since this is here on gog, I didn't need to worry about that! So to sum up, if you're a person that plays a lot of FPGames with a controller or you use the default keys, (which are a mystery as they're not even shown during the tutorial) then knock yourself out, but for me, it's a deal-breaker, 'cept I already bought it!
This is why you don't buy games the second they launch.

I was actually waiting quite a while for this game, but yeah, my impatience got the better of me, and hell; the Dev already patched in the re-binds/config file so I'm actually progressing in this game instead of murdering thousands due to shite controls!
avatar
Starkrun: Steam patch added in rebinds already... but the question is if it came to GOG yet.. if not, if no patch comes in X time then this release should be removed from GOG as an abandoned game that was only put here as a fast cash grab.

been burned by crappy devs before here, and it will just soil the name of GOG.com.. they already are going to have a fight when Cyberpunk drops with its mandatory online features.

takezodunmer2005: Wait, What now? I hope this is wild speculation, otherwise I just might give up gaming altogether!...
You can read and speculate everything about that here.

So is it rebind possibility in game or just using a config file you have to edit yourself?

Thanks for the link! Considering the threat of net neutrality getting destroyed by our shitty "lawmakers" I really hate to see how the game industry will fuck us over!

Both! The in-game is wonky, but thankfully the config file is perfectly suited for rebinds, of which I prefer as I already know which keys I want to rebind!

Could you explain what you mean with "wonkey"? Are there keysyou cannot rebind using the ingame option? (I normally have difficultys in some games rebinding arrow keys or other special keys that's why I am asking).

Yeah, I cannot see my mouse cursor so I have to try and match it up with the menu options, but yes, it is fully re-bindable, even the arrow keys! ;^)

Thanks for the information. Maybe I should wishlist the game after all. It looks interesting but I am notf so much into "sandbox" - I prefer a story with a beginning and an end.

Yep, this is more like a pizza than a full coarse meal, I would snag it when it goes on 50-75% off sale though!
This game appeared on steam que and i knew i saw the game before, it was at GOG so i chcked the reviews: mixed

56 reviews and at least 10 bad
most of them complained about crash, and "no vr?" maybe its because steam releases often arrive here aswell so there is not enough time to see if a game is really good thats why the mixed steam reviews.

Anyway maybe its better to let a game first arrive at steam wait a while to see how it develops and what the ratings are, seems more recently released games have mixed reviews at steam and some are here aswell.
Not gonna get it because it seems you can play with mouse only by "ruddering", i.e. put mouse down, move mouse up, put mouse up, place mouse at bottom again, move mouse up etc.
I'd like a Freelancer like mouse control, i.e. the amount of pitch or yaw is proportional to the distance the mouse dot is away from the center of the screen, and the mouse dot behaves normally like on desktop.

Mind you, everybody fucks that up, GTA5, Battlefield 1, .... but that does not mean that it's OK.

I would get it as the sole developer of this game has pretty much patched/fixed the issues thus far, he's been really responsive towards this game!
