Double the vampire lords, double the fun!

Legacy of Kain: Defiance, the vampiric action-adventure game filled with furious fighting is now available on GOG.com for only $5.99!

Nosgoth, sweet Nosgoth. Motherland of the vampire kind. It might be a gloomy, morbid wasteland, but it's the only place a bloodsucking, cadaverous fiend can call home. So when a vicious, powerful enemy schemes to invade it, even mortal enemies like the ancient vampire overlord Kain, and the deformed, power-hungry outcast Raziel join forces in its defense. Each of them follows his own path of bloodshed and destruction towards the common goal, but little do they know about the plots and machinations underlying their quest. In the end, it might just be that only one of them will survive.

The combat oriented gameplay invites you to progress and master each character’s unique weaponry and fighting techniques. You will encounter countless imaginatively designed foes and explore a vast and--in its own twisted way--beautiful environment. As in the previous games in the saga, there will be puzzles to test your wits and the solid storyline will keep you intrigued for hours.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance ties provides a closure to the Legacy of Kain saga so don’t miss out on your last chance to become a fearsome vampire lord--heck, even two of them!--for only $5.99!

Paradoks: Much worse than with gamepad. There is an unofficial camera patch though (I didn't check it myself).
Thanks, although that was what I feared...

Just found the camera patch, though, so when I've got some money I might actually be able to play this without wanting to consume the souls of the developers :-)

Leroux: Some staff member accidentally fed their furbies after midnight again? Blast all this time zone confusion! :(
Bright light! Bright light!
What is the problem with the two Blood Omen games. Without them the series won't complete. Why you can't release them?

Paradoks: Game only supports 4:3 ratio, but all resolutions. Only Soul Reaver 1 has a widescreen patch right now.
So if you choose a non-4:3 resolution, it stretches the image? How annoying.
Great addition to the catalogue.

Sadly, Square Enix may not own the license to the first game. I think it was published by Activision and on top of that there may be compatibility issues with Vista and 7. I'm with you though, Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen would be an instabuy for me, regardless of the price point. :(

klaymen: While I am not interested in this game, I appreciate that it is not a "yet another indie" release.
Same feel! (although it isn't a pre-2k, at least it's slightly earlier than 2004. ;)

jamyskis: Personally surprised that no-one's complaining that the game isn't at least ten years old. They were out in full force when Warrior Within was released.

Awesome release. Got it on disc already, but in German, so wishlisted for a rainy day.
Well, for me at least, it was mainly that I didn't realize Warrior Within had been so long ago. Even looking at the release date, it still feels recent to me. (Plus both it and Mysterious Island were 2004, so release of something even earlier would have been nice.)

EDIT: As always, it's a shame when soundtracks aren't included (Symphony was the only game w/ an included soundtrack), but great work with "82 artworks"! (It almost looks like B2 artworks, given the - I guess - anti-aliasing text effect in Firefox.)

Yes, but that's what 'maintain aspect ratio' option in graphic card settings is for, so you can have nice black borders on the sides of the screen :P.
The game is from late 2003, that's before the widescreen era.

I actually had to learn to live with black bars on DVDs on my computer, as widescreen was becoming norm. So if I can do that, surely most people can live w/ black bars on the sides of their screen.

*Thinks about it*

Well, actually, that may have too much of a "confining" feel, since they're vertical and not horizontal.
2003 game? GOG, how dare you releasing games that are not pre 1st century!? I want to see games like Mahjong or Backgammon!

From what I know, compatibility issues have been pretty much dealt with by the community by now (besides there is Blood Omnicide coming).
Square Enix definetly owns PS1 version of the game. All legal problems seem related to the PC version.
Just give me blod omen... fast. Please!!!

That only works if you choose a 4:3 resolution.

But if it's implemented correctly, it doesn't really matter. I've just had problems with UnEpic lately. It only supports very low resolutions, and it locks in that resolution until the game is shut down. As a result, when you alt-tab out of the game, your desktop is in the same low resolution, which I find incredibly annoying.

I can confirm that alt-tabing works without any problems, and supports the resolutions that your graphic card supports. See image.

Edit: For whatever reason I can't post the image :P. I'll try later.
