Dogmaus: Cool. I wish I had all these cool stuff coming out and available when I was a kid XD
From Unfrozen website:
"What was the game developers’ inspiration?

Primarily, Darkest Dungeon and Dungeon Keeper. The first one inspired us to make a tactical system, and the second one gave us an idea to create a game where the main character is the Lord of Darkness. We are also influenced by Slay the Spire and Disciples 2."

Also, they are from Russia and not Germany as I was supposing.

Well, this gets my attention. Thanks for the info :)
Dear Gog-chan, you would make better business by informing us earlier about such releases.

I waited 6 months for Iratus to appear here, nothing at first, bought it on a steamy engine and now it is here, rip

Is game based on real events ? like so many games and movies nowadays. jk.

Looks great tho, will proly buy it.

Thanks for achievements!
Kinda bad form to say, "Iratus: Lord of the Dead is a tactical roguelike RPG game from Daedalic Entertainment..." and not mention the developer Unfrozen, since Daedalic is just the publisher.

Thank you Unfrozen, for a great looking game! Some sound effects are nice and chunky, but some feel a little weak. Hopefully you'll manage to even things out, by the time the game comes out. Also the narrator... OH MY!

Also, thank you for putting in the extra effort, and adding achievements on GOG! Hopefully they encourage deeper exploration of the gameplay, such as having to win the campaign using a certain non-traditional party composition, and you don't limit yourselves to cheap: kill 10 enemies achievements, and the always popular: kill 100 enemies.

I'm sorry, I don't pre-order, or buy in-development games. However, i'm more likely to buy a game day one, if it also has achievements on GOG. Not all games need achievements, since they end up spoiling the atmosphere of narrative driven games, but for repetitive games(rogue-likes, tower-defense, platformers, puzzlers, tactical/strategy turn-based) they can be a boon to replayability, when implemented correctly.

EDIT: This just occurred to me, so I checked the achievements list on STEAM, and it looks like most are the "kill 100 enemies" styled achievements. But then there are the "Learn all XXX talents in one playthrough" achievements, which if they force you to play the game at a disadvantage, thus requiring clever puzzle solving to accommodate, might be what I was referring to above.

Nice release. Did not even know the game existed but quite intrigued by it now
This game is fantastic!

Glad I bought it. Something I rarely say about games nowadays.

-Not much bugs for an Early access. (One bug in 5 hours. had to reload the game and it was fine.)

So, you played the game. Now, that you mentioned that the game is actually surprisingly stable, I'm even more tempted to getting it.
I've got some impressions to share after beating the initial difficulty. I also beat Darkest Dungeon and Slay the Spire, the closest comparisons, I'll be comparing it to those.

- Like DD, units attack with positioning dependent skills. Rather than upgrading these skills linearly multiple times, however, each ability upgrades only once but allows you to choose from diverging options on how to upgrade the skill, HOMM 4-style. Each unit has 6 skills that are all unlocked straight away and can all be used, so no having to select which ones you'll use before battle like in DD.

- Progression of the game is a Slay of Sire style pick your route, going through the branch that you pick up to the boss of that level. For the in development version there are 3 layers available to go through, with the fourth and final layers slated to be added upon release. The Slay the Spire style map layout and movement also means that the game is more fast-paced than DD. This is to its advantage, as it keeps the game from getting grindy, which is a real issue with DD.

- There are currently 17 unit types, +1 if you buy the supporter pack. Most of these are gradually unlocked as you play and they stay unlocked between playthroughs. Getting them doesn't take excessively long, as I was able to get most of them over the course of my first playthrough. Units themselves can be tweaked through using different component parts and upgrade items.

- You get a simplified HOMM hero and town. Town doesn't produce units, but looks like a HOMM town and has buildings that you build and upgrade to get different benefits, such as finding more items after battle. Hero character doesn't have any stats, but can interact with combat through casting spells, can equip artefacts and level up to gain different skills. Spending talents to gain skills is where you plan out your build.

- Not as stylish as DD, but has some fun touches of its own, such as enemy models receiving battle damage upon low health.

All in all, a solid game. What needs fleshing out the most is the enemy variety and building your town. Enemy variety will increase as more layers get released, but buildings could use something like a capstone ability upon being fully unlocked to make them a bit more interesting. This followed by more hero skills to add to the character build variety and more unit types. Worth giving a go already if you're into what it's offering.

Yeah it is. I was quite surprised myself.

Aside from the bug I mentioned, there's one small text that is in Russian while I play the game in English.

And it seems like some skills need balancing, since they don't make much sense atm. But I guess that's part of the Early Access.

And that is all that I found, bugs-related, in my 5 hours of gameplay and 3rd level finished.
Played almost 20 hours and starting to love this game. Graphics is good, sound design good too, Basically, I didn' liked only one thing: walking in dungeons as a team was somewhat more interesting in Darkest Dungeon. In Iratus there is only map travelling between points of interest. But, on the other hand, this makes game faster and more exciting so it is not a bad thing - it is just different to Darkest Dungeon. Battles are fun, easy difficulty is really easy and new players will like it. Overall, I liked this game so much, that I even bought Supporter Pack. Now I waiting for full release version of this game with more interest than the release of some AAA games. :)
Is the promotion still valid or no longer?

All players who will enter the game from June 25, 7 PM CEST to July 27, 7 PM CEST will get new limited skins for four minions: the Mummy, Shade, Blood Phantasm and Lost Soul. Skins will remain with you forever.

I ask because the forum says July 9th and the Changelog(Adalia Fundamentals) says July 27th

Thanks

I don't like the idea of limited content, how is it possible to do it with a DRM-free build?
