The eighth chapter of a popular anime sound novel is now available DRM-free on GOG.COM. The story Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.8 Matsuribayashi is set in June 1983 and revolves around Hinamizawa, a small village in the Japanese countryside. During the last few years, the place is plagued by strange cases of murders and disappearances. Will we discover the answer to this mystery?

Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.8 Matsuribayashi will be available on GOG.COM with a special 10% discount until 22nd May, 11 PM UTC. That’s not all, for another 2 months (until 14th July, 11 PM UTC) you can buy chapters 1-4 together in a bundle with a 75% discount. Lastly, creators and publishers of the series decided that until the vaccine for the COVID-19 is discovered Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.1 Onikakushi is available for free.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the Steam version has achievements and the GOG version does not.

It really should not be that difficult to add it to a visual novel.

Depends really, I don't know about this one but a lot of Visual Novels use Ren'Py, the problem here iirc is that Ren'Py is open source. But the GOG/Steam code for Achievements can't be public. So someone would have to maintain it and distribute it privately, which you won't see people eager to do for GOG.

How does this bundle thing work? I already own chapter 1 but even with putting the free game again in my cart it only shows the 75% discount on one game ...

The discount (for one off the 4 games) was only shown after I put them all in my cart. But according to the above every game from 1-4 should get a 75% discount.

You have to add chapter 2, 3 and 4 to your cart. It then should jump to 75% off your order total for those three games, at least it does for me.

RoboPond: You have to add chapter 2, 3 and 4 to your cart. It then should jump to 75% off your order total for those three games, at least it does for me.

I had them in the cart for the whole time. After I read your post I decided to look in the cart again and ... bang 75% for each. It simply was delayed ... which is something I should have expected here on GOG ;)

I think it works as intended. How would it be a bundle discount, if you would get it for the games individually?

So, any chance for Ciconia coming here?

(though, to be fair I can't really see it selling much here because the main demographics at gog aren't much into vns to begin with and gamers in general are cheapskates and most wouldn't buy a niche game at full price even if they're fans and the fans that are passionate enough to be willing to pay full price to play it right away have already bought it and probably wouldn't be willing to double dip so gog is pretty much too late to bother with it at this point *shrug*).
