The universe is a big, big place. A big place to comprehend, a huge place to traverse, a colossal place conquer. But in Galactic Civilizations, that's just a minor obstacle.
Welcome to your cosmic playground.
What is GalCiv? Take Sid Meier's Civilization, shoot it into space, and multiply by a factor of ridiculous. You see, GalCiv shows an understanding of exactly what makes the space fantasy so irresistible: the scale. Formidable scale, from the mundane day-to-day culture or politics of innumerable living creatures, through nimble fighters dwarfed by the overhanging starships, through distances that reduce our brains to overwhelmed, upset little raisins.
But for a game so incredibly large (Galactic Civilizations III actually supports up to 128 concurrent players), it also manages to ease you in with bite-sized chunks of gameplay that will form your interstellar civilization. In short, it's actually accessible to newcomers.
Huge customizability, great humor, and awe-inspiring scale - become the elected leader, seize your power, or ascend to a higher state of being - the future is yours.

You can also pick up extra content for Galactic Civilizations III including: the Original Soundtrack, Revenge of the Snathi DLC, Mega Events DLC and Map Pack DLC.

Interesting. I've not played it yet, but my Steam copy of GC II says that it uses an additional 3rd party DRM "Stardock.com". I'm not sure what all that entails, but it's probably enough to influence me to go ahead and buy it again here...
Hell yeah, gog! This kicks some thick, meaty butthole.
For some reason I always get these games confused with Imperium Galactica. :P

Can someone confirm that this release of GC2 is exactly DRM free and that you dont need a stardock.com account to play it? This was the reason I didnt buy it from Steam and I would like to buy it here but I really hate games that needs membership like ubisoft games. Thank you.
What the.... I wanted to play GalCiv II today, but I didn`t wanted to fire up Steam, and then this message shows up!! Now I`m happy!!! :-)
Nice. GC III is high on my wishlist, but I'll wait for the DLC stream to settle down and have a complete version.

That's going to take a while. Stardock has planned about 5 years of content for GalCiv 3, with 4-5 DLCs per year and 2-3 expansion packs.

I have enough games to keep me busy. And as far 4X games go, I have my own to work at too ;)
Instab ... but wait, what, no XP support in GalCiv2?!
omagad omagad omagad

i spent days on galciv 2 disc physical version

i preordered the 3rd one, despite it being on steam only, the day the preorder was available through stardock website
enjoyed it as a beta version

but finally when released i barely played it because the "steam dedicated" gaming computer (might better say "sacrificed") in the house is set in the living room's tv with a controller, and with a focus on console-action games in mind

as such, it was unconfortable to play such a good game (keyboard/mouse) in these conditions

now with gog i can again play galcivs especially the 3rd in a perfectly appropriate and confortable way

plus the fact galciv3 is here now, i can finally recommand it to a handful of friends who share two traits with me: being mo2 hardcore fans and being not very appealed to steam... some of them didnt even try galciv 2 "in time", but as 3rd is like galciv2 just "more of it in every possible aspect"... oh damn...

such a joyful day.

THANX GOG; though my wallet just hates you

galciv3 on gog less than 2 years after its release :) (no sarcasm, just genuine surprise and enthousiasm)
So, how will GalCiv III run on a computer with only 4 GB RAM? And are GalCiv II and III bound to a Stardock account, like the Steam versions?

The system requirements are weird in general. GalCiv1 requires 1.8 Ghz, but GalCiv2 only requires a Pentium III or 1 Ghz?

I've just tested it, and GalCiv 2 doesn't require registering with Stardock. They've finally removed that requirement. :)
