I noticed that F:NV, F3 and Oblivion were removed from my wishlist.
I checked Fallout: New Vegas's store page and found out that Windows XP was added to "Works on:" (Works on:
Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10) ).

Sounds great! Thanks to Bethesda and GOG for fixing the issue. <3

EDIT: GOG made a mistake, alas. No WinXP support (for now). :(

Apparently, it wasn't fixed, they just made a mistake on the game card...

*sigh* Yep. I still hope they'll fix the installer. Nobody is asking to support obsolete OS.
Just a small fix in the installer will be enough.

Pixelhate: I've contacted GOG support about XP (32bits on Windows), this is their answer : "We no longer perform compatibility tests for Windows XP and Vista, so I'm unable to guarantee that the game will work correctly on Windows XP as it was not tested."

Compatibility was not tested but might work...

I need a more definitive answer before buying it.

I've already tested it on XP and it didn't work, they did break XP compatibility, so don't bother.
To play it on XP you'll need the retail version or the Steam version (which unfortunately is the same), even the pirate version may run on XP, not GOG's though. I don't approve of this.

I would have bought Fallout 3 GOTY and Oblivion GOTY as well but as of now, my retail versions seem to be superior (since they run without online checks as well and also on XP.
Too bad, I like to reduce the clutter in my apartment.

I can only hope that GOG will reconsider and add the untampered files that were still XP compatible to the extras or make a patch that replaces the changed files with the old ones.

vanchann: A few more notes from the Galaxy page:

Always optional

Beyond all these features, GOG Galaxy will never be mandatory. And that’s great motivation for us - we want to make it so good, that you actually want to use it.

vanchann: Enough is enough!
We have made our choice. We don't want to use it!

Please, vote for Windows XP support here.
Agreed. If I want community features, I'll just come here.

XP / Vista are no longer listed as supported OSes because we are no longer testing releases on them. We offer absolutely no guarantee that the particular game will / will not work on a such system.

We do not deliberately sabotaging games -_-'"

Which is nonsense if the game comes with mandatory Galaxy "support", but Galaxy is incompatible with XP.
Have Galaxy be truly *optional*, and then that statement will be fully true, not true under conditions.

As I see it, GOG has three options :
1. Make Galaxy support optional (add a patch for each game to enable)
2. Make Galaxy itself compatible with XP (I'm sure a stripped down version could be cobbled together. More work that #1 however)
3. Not give a frog's fat a**

1 seems to be the best option. Though it's very "Bethesda" of GOG to have the community to be the one to provide fixes for their games.

Barry_Woodward: "Neither Fallout 3 or Oblivion is affected."
Because neither have Galaxy support currently. So there's nothing to hamper compatibility.

Maybe you should consider reading more than one post when you dig up something old.
Just read the following posts after the one you quoted, two posts above the post you linked to or go here for the prepackaged fix for those who don't have/use Steam:

Maybe you should consider posting it where it belonged to begin with.
