Dalthnock: Metal AF edition?

Saying (or writing) AF is the LEAST Metal thing you could do.

Posers.
youre not old school, youre just old ;P
I must not cool enough to understand why AF is such a bad thing to write.

Lone_Scout: To be honest, this game seems more Dark Souls than Dark Messiah, so not exactly my taste.
However, for just 10€ it's worth giving a try. Bought.
Exactly!
I own this game on Steam and it isn't as Dark Messiah of Might & Magic at all. It's very hardcore and punishing like a Dark Souls game, and don't have the skill tree of DM.
But the music is amazing, only for that alone is worth (imo).

"As fuck" for the non-prudes ;)
avatar
Tarhiel: GOG also, would you be so kind and let us know that more than version of the game is available right in the release announcement?

I just bought the standard edition, thinking that´s the only version out there, and only now found out there has been the Metal AF edition, so I have to write to support now and then buy it again :/
avatar
tfishell: Well, there is an "edition" selection button right below the price. Obviously it wouldn't hurt to announce all versions to save minor headaches but the "edition" button is also something to keep in mind.
Yeah, I noticed it right after the purchase.

It is supposed to be edgy or hipster. I guess in an attempt to appeal to younger gamers.

"It is cool AF" is today's equivalent of saying "Cowabunga" back in the 80's

This is not to say the game is bad because they choose to use AF as marketing phrase. It will appeal to some I suppose. I honestly did not even think about it until people started talking about it here.

But that saying is probably not geared towards us. I grabbed it because the vertical, maze like, level design looks interesting and is always something I like to see in games. It also feels like a mix of some retro shooter/ melee combat game designs...of which there has been a reemergence of lately.

Addendum: I just noticed the giff on the game page. So the use of AF, as some one mentioned above, has a double meaning. It alludes to the common saying "As Fuck" but also Action Fantasy. Well played developers. :D

The thing I've noticed is that when games get gamepages here (like "coming soon" or for preorder), we're able to wishlist them, but it is just the standard edition of the game. It isn't until release day at least that we might learn of the other editions.

A reason people are inadvertently buying the standard editions when they would've bought the (until now unannounced) deluxe editions is because people wishlist games and then click add to cart right from their wishlist. So they wouldn't have reason to be aware of the edition selector or new gamepages appearing.

A good solution would be if GOG had an alert message in the cart once the user is getting ready to pay, to let them know other editions are available. Iirc, GOG already has a similar alert message if during the same transaction the user tries to buy a DLC that is already included in a premium edition of a game in their cart.

This.
And also, I have simply got used that up until now (or very recently) they did anounced the other releases on the announcement page, when the game was released, that's what got me confused.

Not on it's own. But combined with 'Metal' it shows that the Metal part was a lie. If you're Metal, you won't be afraid of spelling out 'as fuck' or saying it.

You can write 'I'm timid AF' or 'I'm politically correct AF'. But NOT 'I'm metal AF', that just makes you sound pretentious.
Yea. Im not nearly cool enough. I didn't really know about any of that stuff. I knew people say stuff is metal, but I thought it was just a generic positive exclamation. Like saying "awesome".
How is the save system in this game? Pre-determined points or does it allow quick saving?

EDIT:
OK, checked the VOD and it's the usual "bonfire" deal.

This has nothing in common with Painkiller. The combat is more like in Vermintide or in the newer Shadow Warrior games (dashing to avoid being hit etc.).
