gixgox: Demetrios arrived in the DRMfree part of the world - at last.

surfer1260: No, fireflowergames.com offers this game since a long time.
Shame on me!
I completely forgot my old Fireflower account.
When I purchased Demetrios on steam, I was sure, that I already had it - but couldn't find it.

Well, all good things come in threes. :)

And a friendly Welcome to the COWCAT.

COWCATGames: No reason not to make the game available everywhere :)
I need a way to embed this thought in the heads of many big (AAA) publishers.
I wonder if that teletype ticker sound for text can be turned off, i found it irritating to have to wait for the text to be displayed one word at a time. i do love me some adventure games but this i may have to pass

I tested my itch.io copy and you can at least turn volume of sound effects down which does affect the typingh sounds as well.

Alexim: The Achievements tag is missing in the game card

Edit: Now it's correct.
It's seems to be there now.

For all of you who don't know Demetrios yet, I want to add something.

It has a very special game mechanic included I liked a lot. Some adventures offer you the opportunity to get a hint if you are stuck - however it always feels like cheating for me doing this. In Demetrios you can collect hidden cookes which basically serve as a currency for getting an additional hint. So you have to "work" for your progess no matter what :)

Welcome to GOG, Fabrice :)

musteriuz: Although I like adventure games, I'm usually bad at them, but since this seems like it'll run on my old clunker, and since you talked to us in the forum and since it's being sold at a price I can afford - bought. And thanks and good luck with finishing your latest project.

COWCATGames: It should run on computers with Intel HD Graphics, yes. This GOG version is newer because I switched to GameMaker Studio 2.0 to make it (due to 64 bit requirement for Mac & Linux soon) so it has slightly higher requirements than previous versions (DirectX 11 vs DirectX 9 previously)

Yes this is a very friendly adventure game to begin with the genre. Don' t hesitate to "eat some cookies" to get hints when you're stuck!

And yes it was also available on itch.io previously. No reason not to make the game available everywhere :)
It's good to see this game finally here and hopefully your internet line will work eventually :)
Thanks a lot!

Hey Marko :) And as you know considering you've played it, my next game Brok also has this mechanism :p

@Loger13 => You can change the message display speed in the options and set it to near-instant. And you can lower/remove sound effects. I try to make many options available but it seems it's never enough!

@Panaias => No it's not directly related to Greece, only the name - though the main inspiration for the name comes from the "vase of Demetrios" that I found in the dictionary when I created the first version in 1999 :p

Sadly the art style puts me extremely off, it looks like a free amateurish game.
Just in case you are unsure keep in mind that there's a demo as well which you can get here.

You probably should not judge the game by its looks. It does not PLAY like an amateurish game at all. Just try the free demo to see if it is still not your kind of game. :)

Sorry GOG, you were far too late this time. I already bought it, DRM-free, from itch.io.

gixgox: Demetrios arrived in the "curated" part of the world - at last.
Fixed that for you as it's been DRM-free for a long long time. ;)

So did I - bought it again to support the dev and show GOG that it's worth getting his next game here as well.

Hmm, for 80% off there's a chance I might double dip as well.

Don't forget that it also offers the soundtrack and artbook (91 pages) which were at least not in my itch.io version.

That artwork is seriously amateur hour stuff, the kind I'd have expected on a free newgrounds flash game

COWCATGames:
Thanks for putting in the effort to bring the complete version to GOG with achievements and all the bells and whistles! Instabought.

Ah yeah, go on then! When I got it on itch it was definitely on sale for more than 20% off, so even after double dipping I will have paid less than full price.

On the one hand, I don't want to give GOG the message that they can mess around like this and I'll still buy the game, but on the other hand I'm happy to give more money to the dev. You win this time GOG!

Yeah, that definitely deserves rewarding.
