That’s gotta be the longest release blurb I’ve seen on Gog in months.
Go to the store page and it has a rating of 1 out of 5 already? The reviews I have seen have all been positive so I don't know why it is getting such a low score here?
high rated

Maybe someone didn't have it in them to run a cult? ]:>

There is no need to look at the overall rating.
We got enough trolls who vote games they don't like but don't own down.
I would even say some use sock puppets.

Verified owners rating is the only thing that is kinda interesting beside longer reviews.

In this case some religious people might feel being "attacked".

Can be the 2D look or anything else too.

I'm sure Devolver Digita are delighted with it. :P

Edit: fixed.

Doc0075:
This comes up quite a bit, usually the first rating anything gets is 1 because there is no other "I'm not interested in this game" indicator so some people use one star to indicate that. It is already up to 4, I'm guessing those reviews aren't based on actually playing the game either.

True. Guilty of that here, I use 1 stars to remind me to not bother with the game ever again.

BTW, since I'm commenting here, this game seems to be tailored to satanists, I wouldn't touch it with a stick. 1 star.
I'm going to be a bit a bit swamped during the week but this looks really interesting for the weekend.
Not my kinda game, but I'd never give a one. That's just ignorant. Check out the steam reviews, you'll see a lot of "praise the lamb" from fans and such, but generally sounds like an interesting game. I'm not big on roguelike and management though, so not for me. Reviews have been very positive and will probably hit overwhelmingly positive, which is good for an indie game. Hopefully a sign of good things to come in the gaming industry.

No, it's about as true to Satan as heavy metal. The whole game is a tongue in cheek mockery of religions as cults. I mean the game is "cult of the lamb" and it doesn't take a genius to figure out what's being mocked here.

Looking at the Cultist Edition here on Gog there seems to be some 1 star reviews because there's no Linux version. There's no Linux version on Steam either so I'm not sure why they're specifically targeting this game.

That's exactly why I ignore everything outside of verified owner user ratings and reviews.

Interesting idea... hadn't occurred to me. Although I'd love to be able to tag some titles as "zero interest ever", I doubt I'll adopt that specific methodology, as it feels wrong to me, and I don't think I'll be putting my own need for that above an unfair rating, even if I think the game is garbage (without actually playing it)... and I'm not talking about this game when I say that.

Maybe the usual "editor/marketing person" is on leave or something ;)

Game certainly looks cute and interesting for me to wishlist it at least for now :D
