Crying Suns is now available, DRM-free.

After 700 years of peace and prosperity, the Galactic Empire has suddenly been shattered into pieces. The OMNIs, god-like machines which did everything for their human masters, have mysteriously shut down. And humankind, having long since lost the ability to survive on its own, is dangerously close to extinction. But somewhere in a far corner of the Galaxy is Gehenna, a planet of ice and rock and a top-secret facility that is the pinnacle of Imperial Tech and also humanity’s last chance.

You are a clone of Admiral Ellys Idaho, a weapon fashioned from flesh, the best Imperial Admiral ever to battle in the stars and you have just been awoken on this planet by its strange and darkly-humorous Guardian, Kaliban, the last functional OMNI to exist.

Your mission: skillfully command a battleship through the Empire's now chaotic, violent clusters ––where one wrong move could be your last–– as you try to reactivate the OMNIs and save the future of all humankind. But you must leave Gehenna now.... for time has almost run out.
Thank you GOG for providing the demo version. I've just completed it and it convinced me to buy the game in few days. FTL vibes all the way! :)

On the separate note: will the soundtrack be available to buy? It exists on Steam.

Does the full game have the ability to save after a successful mission?

Having cleared the first three sectors, I can tell you that you may save and quit at any time aside from combat or an expedition but then you simply continue without having a save to fall back on - pretty much like FTL.

If you mean after successfully clearing a sector, then it actually gives you another area to adventure in... you can't keep anything you gained on the way, but neither do you have to go through the first three sectors again.

Thanks for the info! Also, is there an option to turn off the "Alert" part of the star map? Does it have something like a sandbox mode so you can travel from star to star without having "the enemy" catch up to you?

Nope, alerts can't be disabled. No sandbox and you also can't go back to previous chapters as of right now. The dev has hinted that might be incorporated into a future patch however (playing previous completed chapters).
