16 bits of fun on the wall.

CrossCode is now finally released out of In Development and is 15% off until September 27th, 7pm UTC.

It's never too late to discover your soft spot for the 16-bit NES-style classics. CrossCode is a bold combination of everything that made them homely, memorable, and just so damn fun: amusing characters, fast-paced combat, outlandish sci-fi setting, rewarding exploration, and meaningful customization.
Graduating from In Development means a complete main story filled with gorgeous cutscenes, a new area and dungeon to explore, more enemy types, bosses and party members, plus several other additions and improvements.

eiii: How can the release date be "June 17, 2015" when the game has been released today?
Because it was available as an "In Developement" Game way earlier.
I bought this game several months ago here
"16 bits of fun on the wall."

That pretty much describes the scene in Full Metal Jacket when Private Pyle shoots himself.
Read the review for this on RPS earlier today - seems interesting - and they said it would be released here later, so I was keeping an eye out. Glad it's here, will wishlist it.

Zoidberg: Looks like a heavily modified RPG Maker title.
It's made entirely in HTML5... read up on it... pretty impressive... and to everyone asking about the date, yes, like others have said, this has been on GOG for a long while now... think I bought it like 6 months ago or even longer

Looks very fun, been watchin some streams. Movement looks smooth too.
Gonna save up for this one too.

LeonKillsAshley: The release date listed is likely when the game was released on early access.

I know that the game has been available as "In Development" on GOG. But even GOG has different rules for games in development and released games.

Zoidberg: Let's be honest, the release date of a game SOLD on a storefront, should be the date it's been made available to buy and play, early access or not.
That's at least not my understanding of a release. Early access games can have quite a different development state and be far away from being "ready".

Ganni1987: No download required as it's built in HTML5 (in browser).
Does that mean the full version also is an HTML5 game?

Looks like that already answers my question.

Please, please let this one be better than Galactic Heroine and Pier Solar...
I loved what I played of the "in development" version. Can't wait to start playing the full version now. Congrats to the developers!

Ganni1987: If anyone's curious how the game plays, you can check out a demo here: http://www.cross-code.com/en/start

No download required as it's built in HTML5 (in browser). I like the play style and the combat is solid too, definitely goes to the highly recommended list :-)
I am not a fan of pixels/JRPGs stylish games. But the demo sold it to me. Looks very polished and more action oriented. Plus Linux.

I played the demo, perhaps an hour, not sure.
The game looks good and well made, but not for me. I thought it was going to be a sci-fi rpg. Playing it felt like the original Legend of Zelda game*, in a sci-fi setting.
Nothing wrong with that, but it isn't an RPG that I wanted.

This is an action game with puzzle elements. Perhaps "action-adventure".

*Based on videos as I have never played Legend of Zelda.

GOG.com: …16-bit NES-style classics…
Nah! NES is 8bit and the game characters move too fast for SNES (and we all know SNES's puny 3MHz CPU was slooooooooow). This game is a true Blast Processing Capable Mega Drive Classic! :D

HunchBluntley: Fun fact: While in some English-speaking countries, homely means something like "comfortable, familiar", in most North American varieties of English, it generally means "[somewhat] unattractive" -- i.e., it's a "polite" synonym for ugly. =)
Yeah, this confused me for many years when watching American media. I wonder how it changed so much?

The colour depth is too high for the weak Mega Drive though! :P

No, No, NO! The colors are too vivid for bleak half-toned SNES's Graphical core! We all know Mega Drive has the most acid 256 color palette! :D :D
