You are welcome guys! Thanks to GOG for also accepting CAYNE.
Also, a big thanks to all those who grabbed the Bonus content - this all goes right back into development of the next game (no sports cars yet) :)
It's "Stasis" all over again. I can't even manage to leave the first room.

Thank you for the gift. :-)

I already own the base version of Stasis so don't want to have to buy the game again to get the deluxe content. Is there any chance of you introducing an upgrade package similar to CAYNE's please?
Thanks again for a free game. :)
It's good to see that there are still developers which do not try to milk their customers for every little skin update and even give away whole new games. Thank you very much, The Brotherhood!

Cayne looks very good, like Stasis does. As I do not have started to play Stasis yet, will the Linux version of Stasis also come to GOG? If so, I will delay it until I can play it on Linux. :)

There already is.

Thanks for that. How strange it didn't show in my search last night.
Awww, the increased system requirements (compared to Stasis) may kill the game for me. Any experience with playing Cayne with less than 1 GB VRAM (on Linux)?

Jemolk: Really awesome move by the developers, kinda like the guys that make open-source software and ask for donations to be able to keep making it.
This game is open-source? Do you have a reference for it?

The game page doesn't mention it, although I haven't looked for long as this page annoys me with a mask to enter my name and email address for notifications and when I click that mask away at the wrong time it makes my browser unresponsive and use 100% CPU so that I have to kill it. Guys please don't lose your just gained sympathy with such an annoying web page...

UhuruNUru: Actually this game is an engine demo for their new game, currently on Kickstarter. [..]
I'm surprised it's not mentioned in the GOG announcement, but it's in the game, and on the Steam version.
This indeed should have been mentioned in the GOG announcement as it explains the giveaway and would have helped the developer more to reach the goal of this giveaway.

gogamess: Is this the STASIS secuel and continues the story or it's a game apart?. Thank you GOG and the dev team! ^_^
I have played through about half of the game yesterday and there are no references to Stasis stuff so far (or at least I didn't notice any). Only the art and puzzle style are very similar. I also jumped a bit ahead (the videos are plain .mp4 files, including the ending), and there is short part where you can see the ship that Stasis story took place on. Parked near the structure where Cayne is happening. So I suppose this is a prequel, since in Stasis the ship was in space. Same universe, but I don't think there are any cross-game spoilers.

The deluxe version includes screenplay which can be helpful. It doesn't include direct solution in all cases, but knowing what is supposed to happen next is often enough to make the connection and make it happen.

The trick to leave the first room is to fool the machinery into thinking it has valid target to work on.

I can't give you any quote, but I'm pretty sure someone (either Judas or The Brotherhood themselves) confirmed the Linux build will be available here when it's released. At least I hope so, otherwise I'll be very cross as I stopped playing STASIS on Wine when I learnt about the upcoming Linux version. :P

shmerl: It's a side story (prequel?) in the same settings if I understood correctly.
That's what I read too, but after playing through CAYNE and watching its final scene I think it's supposed to take place after the events in STASIS (though I could be wrong since as I said above I haven't completed STASIS).

OraEtLabora: Why?
Yeah, I was quite stuck at the very beginning of both games. Paradoxically, the more objects I got and the more locations I got access to, the easier I found them.

That's the scene I was referring to. I might have to watch it again, but the ship didn't seemed parked to me, but rather crashed. That's why I assumed CAYNE comes after STASIS.

Pretty sure Jemolk was comparing The Brotherhood to other guys who make open-source software, not saying that CRAYNE is open-source.

After reading the walkthrough I'd say it's because I don't expect have to react quickly in point and click adventure games.
I've been on the fence about getting Stasis ever since it came out. One the one hand, the style of gameplay is right up my alley, and I really like the visual aesthetic. On the other, I do really, really badly with horror games (too terrified to play).

To those of you who have played Cayne already, is this a good sample of how scary Stasis is? If I manage to cope with this game, will I be able to cope with Stasis, or are they different in terms of tone?

On a slightly different subject, I've seen a couple of people mention Heroine Quest in this thread. I thought that GOG simply didn't host free games, and never expected to see it here - but now that there's precedent, I hope it will be considered in the future. It's a game that would fit GOG's catalogue perfectly, since it's a tribute to the Quest for Glory games. It's very polished, and captures the spirit of Quest for Glory very well.
