Saw this on Steam's messy trash bucket... I mean, release tabs and thought "Humm interesting. If is sees the light of day on GOG it's a go".

it's a go. Thank y'all.

This game starts off as a somewhat easy point and click, only to finish with a super hard platforming section of sorts as the final boss fight. I had to watch the ending on youtube because of that. Be warned.
WTF did I just watch?

thanks for the warning, hate platforming stuff buried in P&C adventure games. looks pretty interesting tho prob would have been too disturbing for me anyway
What's that, a gameboy port? It looks cute and weird at the same time and the reviews indicate it's a good, albeit short, game (~2 hours according to HLTB). It's Quality > Quantity anyway, so i'll think about it later after i read a review or two. I dig the art style though!
Looks... weird.
Nice. Got it from a Humble Bundle some time ago and was surprised, because it was much better than I thought it would be. Might buy another copy to support the developers.
BUBBLE SPEECH - No dialogue, just bubble speech. Watch the story unfold in animated clouds.
SECRETS - There are things in the house waiting to be revealed.
POOP - In many sizes and proportions.

Yep! The same here.
Bought.
Rather different artwork between the splash page and in-game. Realistic and detailed for a still image versus cartoon and simplistic to enable animation. I like them both.
Is this related to that Bulb Buddy kickstarter?
As seen here?
I bought this game and I must say I'm impressed, so far. Since I basically only buy games here on GOG, these days, for a couple of years, now, I'm mostly unaware of the majority of the games that are being released, unless I actively look for them and develop an interest. Bulb Boy definitely flew under my radar, and it's a shame, as I would have loved to play it when it released two years ago. Alas, I'm playing it now. On my digital store of choice. Not a total loss, I guess.

The art style is gorgeous, very reminiscent of the old Nickelodeon cartoons (namely Ren & Stimpy), the story and themes are somewhat interesting, but it's all a better experience if you do enjoy horror games or movies. Some of the subject matter can go from funny to disturbing pretty quickly. The game is pretty short, I've finished it in two and a half hours, taking my time with it, but, to be completely honest, nowadays I prefer it this way, as I no longer have the free time I did a decade back, when I hadn't started working yet. This way, I can replay it whenever I feel like it. And I'll probably "feel like it" a couple of times, considering this is a universe and a setting that I'm absolutely going to want to revisit time and time again.

A word of advice, though, if you get the game and come across this issue: on some setups, the game will run horizontally inverted. If this happens to you, it means you probably switched the Graphics settings to anything other than "Fastest" in the launcher (it's a Unity made game, this launcher is unmistakable). Just set it back to "Fastest" and, voilá, everything is running as it should.

Nope, it's related to THIS Kickstarter. You know, the one in which they clearly promised a Linux version.

Which, after reading this...

...I wonder why didn't they keep their promise. :(

Well, they *did* promise a Linux version *IF* the Kickstarter succeeded. It didn't, they cancelled it out of fear of not reaching their goal (it honestly didn't seem like they were going to make it). If you're familiar with Kickstarter, if a project fails or gets cancelled, the project creators don't get to keep any of the pledged money -- it's all refunded to the backers or, in most cases, it's not even removed from their accounts unless the project goes through and gets funded --, which means Bulbware didn't get any of the pledged money.

I don't know what happened and I won't pretend like I do, but it's clear that they had to find funding outside of Kickstarter. The game got made without the Kickstarter help (after some googling, apparently the game got mostly funded by... PewDiePie, of all people -- check the 'Development' section), and Bulbware no longer had to live up to the promises that were attached to the Kickstarter plan. I'm not saying it's fair to Linux users, I'm just saying they no longer had any promises to keep. Bulb Boy is published by Bulbware themselves, here on GOG, so they should have no obligations towards a publisher, which leads me to think not having a Linux version was a deliberate choice of theirs, sadly.

As a Linux user, you already know the spiel, "Linux isn't lucrative, the userbase is just too small", etc, I won't go into that. It's still a bit odd, though, since the game is made in Unity and apparently that's a very easy engine to "port" to Linux (some devs have ported their Unity games from Windows to Linux in under an hour). Either way, their promises of a Linux build were void the minute the Kickstarter failed.
