The ocean will claim everything.

Titanic: Adventure out of Time is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% discount until January 4, 2PM UTC.
A former secret agent who survived history's most notorious shipwreck now gets a second chance to relive the days leading up to that fateful night. Engage in FMV conversations, face tricky puzzles, and uncover dangerous secrets that could alter the game's ending, not to mention history itself.

tinyE: They got to the radio quick enough IRL. The nearest ship ignored them.

HeartsAndRainbows: I saw a few documentaries about it. If I remember correctly, the technology was rather new back than and the man that was on radio-watch on the nearest ship let the receiver wind down due to inexperience or forgetfulness. (Those radios magnetized and demagnetized a rotating wire which picked up the Morse signs. But the mechanism had to be wound up by hand.)
At least that was what the documentary told me was stated back than. It's kind of hard to check if that man told the truth. ;)

HeartsAndRainbows:
That is one version I've heard and probably the more accurate. Not only were the mechanics new, so was S.O.S. If I'm not mistaken Titanic was the first documented used of S.O.S. Likely that could have cause confusion too.
I couldn't get past the first screen on the SNES, is the same game?
if positive, fuck me.

I don't know the SNES game but this is an adventure and if you could not manage to leave the first screen here ... well, what should I say. There's not even actual puzzle solving necessary to do this. :) So I would say it's a different game.

OR maybe you could recommend me a soft drink. Or something with less Alcohol to drink k.
I think someone with editing rights needs to make a correction at Wikipedia in the 'Reception and legacy' section of Titanic: Adventure Out of Time where it clearly says DRM version at GOG rather than DRM-Free.

Sorry, was busy looking up the Html replacement (%3A) .... once I worked out what was stopping the link being a link.

Try again, working now.

Sorry - used the wrong link. Now it's working.

Seems as if it's already fixed:
"On 28 December 2017 a DRM-free version of the game was officially released via GOG.com, officially making it playable on modern Windows systems"

Worked for me twice. Try F5 to refresh this GOG page.

Like I said - I used the wrong link after you corrected it (I just clicked on the link in the quote which of course was not changed). IBut I also mentioned that the bug seems to have been fixed already - or is there still something wrong?

Yeah, great if such bugs aren't out there too long :) Thanks to whoever it was who fixed this.

The reviews on the Game page sound quite good, but the screenshots there, left me feeling it was less than stated.

Screenshots are an important element I go by when deciding to buy a game. I rarely even bother with a video if the screenshots are good enough.

Unfortunately some games have crap screenshots and no video or the video is just some flashy dumb video and gives no user sense of playing the game.

Further to that, if the game was $1 to $2 AUD I'd just buy it on the strength of most reviews. At almost $7 AUD I need more impressive data to make a purchase, else another game etc takes precedence.

I would have liked more shots of the so called faithful reproductions of the original ship. That way, if I don't ultimately like the game, the visuals might be satisfying enough ... for the money.

It's not always about the looks. This is a piece of history recreated and that makes it great. Don't you wonder why they have preserved this game all the time? Just google for it and/or watch some youtube videos. People really like it. If you are interested in the Titanic it's a must buy. I was interested in the Titanic before they found it. It was a big mystery how an unsinkable ship did not just sink but also vanish. I bought Robert D. Ballard's book in which he told how they found the wreck and of course I also watched Cameron's movie which I really liked - not because of the excangeable romance story but because of the fact that Cameron tried to stay as true as possible to the ionformation known until then. This game gives the opportunity to feel a bit like being on the Titanic and several of the pictures and details in game are true to the original. Like I said, if you are interested in the Titanic it's a must have even though the game is old and some of the movies don't look that good.

Also have some screenshots here.
