FlockeSchnee: I'm really interested, but I get easily frustrated, if there is something I need to figure out and it takes me too long. So I'm cautious with point and click games. But this one looks really fun.

At those who played it: How does the hint system work?
I played "Irony Curtain from Matryoshka with Love" recently. It had two frustration points, where where the hint system didn't help me (because I was stupid).
It's a quite easy game and you have several hint systems depending on the character you are playing. Im case you are playing Don you have his notebook which will constantly tell you what you have to do or on which things you should concentrate. Playing as Buzz you can ask Kitteh if you are stuck. There's no moon logic at all in the game and the puzzles are really logical. This game is not so much a challenge as it is an enjoyable experience. I really think you should be fine.

Thanks. I just bought it. (If i get stuck, I'll blame you. ;-)) This game looks really good. Probably would have regretted not at least trying anyway. (After all, Irony Curtain was fun too, despite those two hiccups.)
So , despite the title, it's not really a Lovecraft based game?
Thought so, Disneyesque animatation and HP Lovecraft just do not go together.
Nice, nearly 700 votes completed. :)

It is a comedy with Lovecraft themes in it. The art style works pretty well, IMO.

game looks very good ... BUT

19.99 list price
only 10% off = 17.99

a little too expensive , it also sets a 2.5 ghz as a minimum, mine is 2.66 ghz so it will be a dramatic performance , cpu will be at 3.2 ghz ( only for turbo boost NOT meant to run at it all the time) ...

Recommended system requirements:

Intel Core i5-3470, 3.20GHz or AMD FX-6300, 3.5Ghz

thats a lot , since an i9700K is only 3.6 ghz :D

It seems it is hard to create beautiful games without having them extrem system recquirements....
many good looking games require too much cpu, basically it is because anyone seems to have a highend system on which they develop, back in the old days games already looked gorgeous with 3 ghz needed :D

this game doesnt need to have 3.2 ghz as a recommended, unless its using UNITY or similar CPU eating 'tools'
it also seems games like this are buil using an unreal engine , i played a steam demo about a dog PI it looked great but it ate away all cpu even i7 had problems.

Anyway, my new setup would also have 3.6 ghz only can you imagine that ? an i7 9700K and a decent GPU can run games at good resolutions, and this point n click requires 3.2 ghz ?
i9700k with a decent GPU can run top 3d games just Goolge and watch the videos, :D

I might buy the game if it is older and 75% off, if i buy it now i'd be tearing out the few hairs i have left of frustration cause the cpu 2.66 ghz quadcore will be sweating like a pig.
i had to skip new games, because of too high cpu as recommended, i will never play on minimum it is too frustrating , and time consuming.

This game would be well worth 30 bucks. It isn't a short game by any means and the quality it has rivals games with bigger budgets.

I don't think the game is in any way performance hungry. Granted, I haven't played much yet, but it all is acceptable on my ancient system! I'm currently playing this game with a 10+ year old desktop computer (Athlon 64 X2 5200+ with a GeForce 8800 GTS) and it's working fine. Only problem I have is that the engine doesn't offer full screen with 4:3 monitors as it will stretch the image from 1600x900 to 1600x1200. A Letterbox mode would be nice, but who uses 4:3 monitors nowadays anyway?

As for the price. I think it's totally fair for a new release of that calibre. I didn't have to think twice to get the deluxe edition.

a little too expensive ,
Actually the price is quite fair given the work that went into the game (which you can see), the voice overs (in most indie adventures you don't even have voice overs), the translations (they are not community made, they hired professional translators afaik) and the length (the programmer today said in the launch stream that it will take you about 6 hours if you know every puzzle and skip every dialogue).

1) Whenever you read recommended you can be sure that the specs shown there will always be a bit higher than necessary because with recommended it is guaranteed that the game will run without any problems with everything turned on in full resolution.

2) The game itself is not really performance hungry - even though it is made in Unity. To make sure that it will run even on low specs the programmer actually offered ingame the option to turn of some of the additional effects which is the reason that the game might need a bit more performance than the usual point and click games. The game has actual shadows, particle effects, dynamic light effects ect. It is NOT just your usual 2.5 D point and click.

3) If you are unsure you can try the demo from their kickstarter page for free. It's quite old and it does not have all the effects but maybe it can give you an idea how the game might run for you.

Zoidberg: I see there are text in a lot of languages, what about the quality of translation?
avatar
MarkoH01: I can only tell you that they hired a professional German translator and I also helped a bit on this as well. As far as I know all should be professional translations but I only tested the German one.

The Romanian one and the English is made by the devs themselves.
I was wondering about the french one. I hope some french sites review it so that I can have an enlightened info.

Thank you for your input, kind sir.
I guess this game is made in Unity also? Always wondered why people create adventure games in Unity anyway, there are engines out there that can do the job with less power

Yes, it's made with Unity and as said is not really that performance hungry - especially if you don't have problems turning off some effects. Some effects simply will do cost performance no matter the engine used. Seeing what great games were developed in Unity I really cannot understand how people still complain about it.
Unity gets a lot of undeserved bad press. Sure, it's the favourite engine for asset flippers and half-baked games given its easy accessibility, but that doesn't mean it's in any way bad when used properly. Lots of game made with unity (this one included) looks great and perform even better.
