A handful of magic.

Death Gate is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Rich in text, detailed fantasy drawings and challenging puzzles, this cult classic first-person adventure will take you through a dark tale of exile and bitter revenge. Years after his race got unfairly banished from the five realms by the advanced Sartan, a young hero must journey through all of them and collect the seal pieces that will help his people restore their place in the world. The road is paved with trouble and unexpected obstacles but his allies and magic abilities could be the key to saving the day!
Instabuy, thank you very much! :)

HOLY (BLEEP) I LOVED THIS GAME

Buy it. It's old, but it really is beautiful and a truly great tale and a fun game. It was one of the first games I had back in the mid-nineties that really took advantage of the CD format.

Highly, highly recommended.
Eric The Unready please!

tinyE: Now all we need is "Tass Times in Tone Town" and my retro collection will be complete! :D
Oh noooo! I still have this game. It was terrible, lol.

Niiiiiice! I fondly remember playing this, way back when. Actually came across my boxed copy recently, complete with a printed short story set in the same world, "Forever Falling". Is that what's meant with the included "storybook"?

Here's to hoping other Legend Ent games will follow soon, starting with The Wheel of Time!

oh man, great. Hopefully Shannara and other stuff will get here as well :D
Another recommendation for this one.

Played it years ago (and even did a what was this game thread for it here a while back) and loved it despite not liking adventure games much.

Oh my mighty God YES.

Bring ALL the Legend adventures. When they moved to first person they still applied the design of text based games (you will see what I talk about when you play it) but they were glorious at this. Glorious. Perfect puzzle design that came directly from the Infocom school, beautiful graphics, and such great names like Bob Bates, Steven Meretzky or the QFG Coles that made the fantastic Shannara.

Seriously, you won't find better book adaptations than in Legend. "Death Gate" is a pefect retelling of the first part of the long saga, Gateway has an unique take on the Frederick Pohl lore, Companions of Xanth and Shanarah take the best of the books and then they improve them. Their hard sci-fi adventure, Mission Critical, is a wonder of exploration that I still replay from time to time.

Do bring all of them, Gog. Do play all of them, people.
What a great New Year's gift! Thank you GOG! I already own most of the Legend games, but will gladly support them here. Legend made some of the finest adventure games from the early to mid 1990s. Eric the Unready is as funny a game as I have ever played. Mission Critical is a great Sci Fi title. And the book adoptions are all high quality. Piko on their website indicates that they have obtained many of the IP's for the Legend catalog -- though they don't indicate titles -- so I hope we get to see many of these here. Instabought!

Rambutaan: ZOMG! Does that mean there'll be more Legend Entertainment releases in the future? Please say "yes" :).

Looking forward to replaying Frederik Pohl's Gateway and Companions of Xanth again - maybe even some of the rest of the catalogue I never got around to ...
i just discovered gateway last year.

that game was fantastic.
I usually don't write in release threads much but this is an AWESOME game. Anyone who loves adventures and didn't know the game should buy this ASAP.

I hope the rest of Legend's games show up here as well now that GOG seems to have a connection to the right holders. Especially Shannara, Eric the Unready and Superhero League of Hoboken.
