Come get some pinball!

Balls of Steel, a collection of five testosterone-packed pinball tables designed specially for the toughest of gamers, so hardcore that they had to put Duke Nukem on one of them, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

So, you thought you would play yourself some pinball, did'ya? Perhaps you thought pinball is an easy game. Wrong! It takes a real gamer to handle the flippers. If you're not prepared, this game is going to make you cwy like a wittle gawl. Do you ever have pinball dreams? Well, welcome to the pinball nightmare! Just look at the title. Look at it, maggot! Is the game called Rainbow Unicorn Paradise Pinball? No! Is it called Magicall Flipper Fluffy Joyride? No! It's called Balls of Steel, and that's exactly what you need to play it and score high.

Balls of Steel features five pinball tables, none of them for the faint of heart. Hardcore horror, solid Sci-Fi, buckets of bullets, and tons of testosterone are the key design feature in this one-of-a-kind pinball game. With everything you could expect from a fast-paced flipper-arcade, including crazy multi-ball action, and a guest star appearance by Duke Nukem himself, this game will make any pinball fan sweat. With joy!

Today, Duke Nukem asks you one question only: are you tough enough to play some real hardcore pinball? If you think you know how to handle Balls of Steel, grab'em on GOG.com, for only $5.99!
Since everyone can make use of an extra pair... check your PM. ;)

RafaelLopez: I'm not a huge fan of pinball myself, but the real problem is... seriously, digital pinball? Can it be even close to the real experience?

tinyE: NO but your average pinball machine cost $1000+ and if you've ever played one outside of an arcade or bar you realize HOW LOUD they are! :D

I'd love a real machine but if I got one my pets would commit suicide and my neigbors would egg my house.
Yup, those things sure make some noise, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Pinball machines without proper sound would be boring as hell. While I may never own a machine myself, I'm more than happy to make due with the twenty-some tables they have at the honest-to-goodness arcade (and not of the run-down variety either) we have downtown. :)

We have a tiny but nice arcade 2 miles from where I am BUT this time of year it is full of drunk snowmobilers (spell). I have nothing against them at all as they bring tons of money to my meager little town but there is only so much "Whooooo! Packers! Whoooooo!" you can take before you start to go insane. That and the 2 pinball machines are right next to the dart board which is not where you want to be when somone working on beer #8 decides to play darts.
Dude, i been wanting some PC Pinball for long time! Will be buying this as soon as some extra cash comes my way!
Been waiting for this for so long. Grabbed it as soon as I could.

Now hurry up and get Croc 1 and 2.
Was something removed from the site? The game counter is at 506, and I swear it was at 507 earlier.
Indeed it was at 507 before. Unless it's just some site error, it's time to play "What's missing?"
I think it's Cryostasis:

I'm liking what I see here in this release. Wishlisted, for now.
This game looks awesome! Thanks, GOG!
I just picked it up. I had to remap the flippers because of the sticky key crap but she looks and sounds way better than I ever remember. It's nice having GOG release a game like this so we can get the most out of without killing ourselves figuring out the compatibility crap.
Awesome! I played the demo a while back and I was impressed with the table design. Not the best physics for the pinball nuts like me but it makes up for it in personalty. I'll grab this when I can afford it :D

I'm happy to see so many 3D Realms releases. I grew up with so many of their games and so many have held up over the years! Kinda wish they kept that trend going :(
That's why I love GOG!

BoS was never mainstream but is a gem in the genre and a hell of fun!

More, please more! :)
Funny. Classic.
How does it compare to Pro Pinball?

Well you can't nudge like in real pinball, you don't "feel" the table, the ball's movements and impacts, the sound doesn't have this "real" quality to it, the physics are at most 99% accurate and you just get one strange angle to look at the table...

But apart from that, yes, it's close. Enough to make a fun, challenging game that requires skill and reflexes.

(only played Pro Pinball - can't have a day without Timeshock)
